HOW TO APPLY IN THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION (NIE)
General Information on Application
All applications have to be submitted electronically. This will ensure faster delivery of your application and accurate transfer of your data.
Upon successful on-line submission, supporting documents have to be sent by post to reach NTU Office of Admissions and Financial Aid not more than 1 week after the closing date. Applications without supporting documents will not be processed.
Only one electronic application should be submitted. Duplicate applications will not be processed.
Inaccurate or false information or omission of material information will render your application invalid and those admitted on the basis of such false or incomplete information will be asked to withdraw.
Application Fee
An application fee of S$30 or US$30 is applicable for payment by bankdraft. Applicants who choose to pay by credit card will enjoy a discounted application fee at S$20. Application fee is non-refundable.
Entrance Examination
Some applicants may be required to take an entrance examination before a final decision on admission can be made. Details of the examination (date, venue, subjects) will be made known to shortlisted applicants. No additional payment is required to take the entrance examination.
SAT/TOEFL/IELTS
Submission of SAT, TOEFL and IELTS scores are optional for students applying with international qualifications.
International Qualifications
International students must have completed at least 12 years of general education or will be taking Year 12 national examinations in the year of application in order to be considered for admission.

Application Procedures
Please read the following instructions carefully before you fill in the application form at Step 6.
Step 1: This application form is only for applicants with India Standard 12 qualification. Only one electronic application form should be submitted as duplicate applications will not be processed.
Step 2: Upon successful submission of the on-line application form, take note of the application number assigned to you and print a copy of the Checklist.
Step 3: Pay the application fee either on-line by credit card at a discounted rate of S$20 or purchase a bank draft of S$30 or US$30 made payable to 'Nanyang Technological University'. The instructions on credit card payment will be displayed at the Application Fee link upon successful submission of the on-line application form. If you are paying the application fee by bankdraft, write your application number and name on the back of the bankdraft. Please track the payment status of your application fee at the Application Status link. Please note that application fee is non-refundable.
Step 4: Prepare certified photocopies of the following supporting documents. Please do not send original documents. The photocopies can be certified by your school teachers or any gazetted officers. Please arrange the documents in the following order.
Birth certificate or passport
Standard 12 marksheet (if available)
Standard 10 marksheet
National Talent Search Certificate (if applicable)
University academic transcripts (if applicable)
TOEFL, SAT1 or IELTS (if applicable)
Additional supporting documents are to be submitted within 2 weeks after you have received the invitation for faculty test (for students who choose Art, Design & Media only).
A portfolio or demo reel of personal artwork, including projects developed in high school. The portfolio should demonstrate general artistic proficiency plus ability in the desired area of BFA expertise (i.e. animation, photography, design, etc).
A short written composition in English of no more than 400 words explaining why you are uniquely qualified to enter a specific BFA program.
A 3-minute movie with a personal explanation/performance demonstrating why you should be admitted into the BFA. The movie format should be a region-free DVD, or a QuickTime or MediaPlayer file on a CD-ROM. Movies longer than 3 minutes will not be reviewed.
Step 5: Send by post the on-line application checklist, supporting documents mentioned in Step 4 and the original copy of the bankdraft (where applicable) to reach the following address not more than 1 week after the closing date 31 December 2007.
