MANAGEMENT ENTRANCE TEST (MET-2008) AND PUNJAB ADMISSION TO MCA COMMON APTITUDE TEST (PAM-CAT-2008)
For Admission to MBA/MCA Courses in the Departments, Institutes and Colleges affiliated to
-Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar
-Punjabi University, Patiala.
-Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar
On behalf of the Punjab Government, Punjabi University, Patiala will hold the Management Entrance Test hereafter referred to as MET-2008 and Punjab Admission to MCA Common Aptitude Test hereafter referred to as PAM-CAT-2008 on 13th July 2008 (Sunday) for admission to MBA and MCA courses respectively in the Departments, Institutes and Colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjabi University, Patiala and Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
For Admission to the MBA/MCA courses through MET-2008, and PAM-CAT 2008, 85 % seats will be reserved for the residents of Punjab State and 15% seats will be open to candidates outside the State.
Date of Entrance Test: 13.07.2008
Last Date for receipt of application forms without late fee:30.06.2008 (5.00 pm)
Eligibility:
For MBA Course: All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline.
For MCA Course: All those candidates who have any recognized Bachelor Degree with minimum three years duration in any discipline, with Mathematics at 10+2 school level or have passed BCA of minimum three years duration from any recognized University. However, the eligibility criteria for admission including educational qualifications as specified by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Punjabi University, Patiala will be applicable for admission to the institutions/colleges affiliated to respective Universities.
Specific Eligibility Conditions For Admission Laid Down By The Respective Universities Educational qualifications for admission to the Departments, Institutes and Colleges affiliated to three Universities, namely, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjabi University, Patiala and Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar shall be as prescribed by the respective Universities. The same, as supplied by the concerned Universities, are reproduced below:
GURU NANAK DEV UNIVERSITY, AMRITSAR
For MBA: Bachelor’s degree in any stream with no less than 50% marks.
For MCA: BBA/ B.Com. / B.Com (Professional) /B.Sc. (Hons.) Economics or Graduate in any stream with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Sciences/ Computer Applications/ IT/ Computer Maintenance/ Quantitative Techniques as one of the elective subjects with 50% marks in aggregate or any equivalent degree thereto. OR Bachelor’s degree in any stream with 50% marks in aggregate with Mathematics as an elective subject at +2 levels.
PUNJABI UNIVERSITY, PATIALA
For MBA: Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the Bachelors/ Masters Degree examination (45% marks for SC/ST and physically handicapped with at least 40% disability).
For MCA: Candidate who have passed the Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3)/BCA in any discipline of the statutory University with 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST and physically handicapped with at least 40% disability). The candidates must have passed the senior secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination or higher degree examination with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics/ Business Statistics/ Quantitative Techniques or equivalent as compulsory/optional/ additional subject or paper.
PUNJAB TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, JALANDHAR
For MBA: Candidates should have passed any recognized Bachelor’s Degree of recognized by association of Indian Universities.
For MCA: All those candidates who have passed any recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration with Mathematics/Statistics/Business Mathematics/Business Statistics /Quantitative Techniques as Compulsory/Optional/Additional Paper as one of the subjects either at 10+2 or at graduation level.
How To Apply: Application forms are available
A.By Hand : On cash payment of Rs. 600/- from the University Enquiry and Information Centre, Near Main Gate, Punjabi University, Patiala and from the Selected Branches of State Bank of Patiala located at Amritsar (Mukherjee Marg), Bathinda (MSC), Chandigarh (Sector 22-B), Faridkot (Main), Jalandhar (Shastri Market), Gurdaspur (Main) and Ludhiana (Saban Bazar).
B.By Post: The request for prospectus by post should be made to In-charge, Enquiry and Information Centre, Near Main Gate, Punjabi University, Patiala -147 002 along with a Bank Draft Rs. 660/- in favour of the Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala, payable at Patiala and a self addressed envelope of 12"x10" size. Candidate must write his / her name, telephone number and address at the back of the Bank Draft.
C.University Website: Prospectus along with relevant forms can also be downloaded from University website www.punjabiuniversity.ac.in and should be accompanied by a Bank draft of Rs. 1600/- (Rs. 1350/- in the case of SC / ST and Physically Handicapped) in favour of the Registrar, Punjab! University, Patiala, payable at Patiala only.
