Training Program in (Learning) Mathematics 2008

The Training Programme in Learning Mathematics TPM aims to provide solid foundation towards mastering the “art of doing mathematics” on their own by a group of mathematicians drawn from leading institutes of India, who have a penchant and commitment for teaching mathematics. Besides, this programme aims to identify young and talented students and motivate them to pursue Mathematics for their career.
Academic Programme:
There will four courses in the subjects Linear algebra, Analysis, Foundations of mathematics and Discrete mathematics/Vector calculus. This apart, there will be seminars by the students. It is planned to have special lectures by eminent senior mathematicians.
Eligibility:
Those students who completed Second year in B.Sc, B.Stat, B.Tech programmes with Mathematics as one of their subjects.
How to apply:
A specimen copy of the blank application form with necessary details is available with Head, Department of Mathematics of your institution. Candidates can make photocopies and use them. The filled - in application form should reach the Programme Coordinator, on or before, May, 20, 2008. Only selected candidates will be informed.
LIST OF SELECTED CANDIDATES
Selection:
The selection will be purely on merit, based on their academic performance and the recommendation letter to be obtained by the candidate from his Teacher of Mathematics. Selected candidates will be paid second class sleeper return train fare by the shortest route. They will be provided free board and lodging for the entire duration of the programme. Girl students will be provided separate accommodation.
