Background

The National committee for air breathing engines (NCABE) was formed in 1991 to provide a forum and stimulus for the activities in the field of propulsion in the country. Under the auspices of NCABE, and as follow up to the last national conference (NCABE-2006) organized at Pune, a one day National Workshop on Air Breathing Engines will be conducted on 28 Dec 2007 Friday, at Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune.

Objectives

Invited speakers will present their viewpoints in a broad perspective. The workshop aims at active interaction, sharing experiences and convergence of thoughts for the common goal of accelerating research and development of aero propulsion systems in India. The topics of focus will be: design and development perspective in the Indian context; aspects of modern measurement techniques for gas turbine engines; materials development scenario; interface of R&D with production agencies; societal benefits accrual; R&D on supersonic combustion; industrialization aspects of gas turbine engines; aero propulsion & academia; testing and maintenance issues: the user experiences.

Interested participants are requested to send in their registration details (format given below) along with the registration fee of Rs 1,000 (Rs 500 for students) to the Organizing Secretary by 10 December 2007. The fee may please be sent by bank draft payable to “DIAT: NCABE-2006” at Pune. For electronic transfer, please quote SBI Branch Code No. 2155 and DIAT A/C No. 01100050127. Transfer from outside India will require the SWIFT Code SBININBB238 and the State Bank of India (SBI), Pune Branch Code No. 0454 also

About DIAT

DIAT is a deemed university of DRDO with its beautiful campus located amid lush green mountains south of the city on Pune-Singhgad road. It is about 40 km from airport and 15 km from Pune railway station.

Transport and accommodation for participants

All participants will be accommodated on the campus. Efforts will be made to provide transport to all participants at Airport and Railway Station. Prospective participants may mail their expected time and mode of arrival to Shri RD Roy at rdroy@diat.ac.in

Hi Mala,
This is really good announcement. Though i am not genius geek. But i would like to hear the speech about aero propulsion and gas turbine. More over than that talking about broad prospective on this topic will enhance the better facilities through gas turbine. If we can improve or make gas turbines more effective than it is definately bring lots of electric power in India which might help rural areas o light up.
