Admissions under FN / PIO / GULF-NRI Students

Definitions:
‘Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)’ means persons who are citizens of other countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) who at any time held an Indian Passport, or that person or either of his / her parents or any of his/her grand parents was a citizen of India by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution of India or Sec 2 (b) of Citizenship Act, 1955 (Act No.57 of 1955).
‘Foreign Nationals’ means Citizens of all countries other than India, who are not of Indian origin as defined under PIO.
‘Foreign Student’ means Foreign Student in this context shall be defined as the student who possesses a foreign passport.
Children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries: The children of an Indian who is working in Gulf Countries under relevant working visa.

The AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has approved Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur vide its letter dated: 23/09/2004 for admitting students having status of Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin / Children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries under 15% supernumerary quota in the following branches:

* Sanctioned vide AICTE letter No. F.No.: 740-89-254(E)/RC/95 Dated: January 25,2007, this sanction is pursuant to the resolution No. 21-2/2003-TS-III dated June 1, 2004, issued by Ministry of HRD, Department of Higher Education, Government of India and AICTE Regulation No. 37-3/Legal/2004 dated January 21, 2004

The Government of Maharashtra State as per their resolution number TEM-2004/(515/04)/T.E.-1 Dated 29th November 2004 & further on 28/7/2006 has also approved Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur for admissions to Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin / Children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries under 15% supernumerary quota for the above said courses.
Rules for Admission under FN / PIO / GULF-NRI Quota

If any seats available for Foreign Nationals / Foreign Students / Persons of Indian Origin /Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries remain vacant due to non-availability of eligible candidates for these seats, such vacant seats shall be kept vacant. Under any condition these seats shall not be offered to any other candidates.
1/3rd of the 15 % seats shall be reserved for children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries and 2/3rd of the 15 % seats shall be reserved for the PIO / Foreign Nationals etc.
As per the orders of Hon’ble High Court of Bombay, these seats can be filled by the institutes only after the institute is certified by the AICTE to the effect that the institute has infrastructure facilities for making the admissions against the over and above the sanctioned intake seats for Foreign Nationals, Foreign Students, PIOs and children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries. In the event of non-availability of Foreign Nationals, Foreign Students, PIOs and children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries, these seats can not be filled from any other candidates.


Admissions under NRI Quota
Definitions:

‘NRI’: Non Resident Indian as per the definition given in the section 6 of the Income Tax Act 1961.
‘NRI Candidate’ means a candidate who is a child/ward of the person who has the ‘NRI status’ as defined under section 6 of the Income Tax Act.

The Government of Maharashtra through it's Director of Technical Education Maharashtra State, Mumbai has made a provision to admit children of NRI candidates within the sanctioned Intake capacity (max. up to 15% of Sanctioned Intake) at Institute level Quota. Therefore, all the branches shown in table above shall have NRI Quota from the session 2008-09 at Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur, Maharashtra State, India.

Eligibility Criteria for FN/PIO/Gulf NRI and other NRI candidates:
1. Admissions to First Year B.E.: Candidate should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
* The eligibility of the candidates passing the HSC (Std. XII) equivalent examination from a school/college/Examination Board situate outside India shall be further decided by the University Authorities to which the candidate is admitted. Hence such candidates are advised to get their eligibility verified by RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur before seeking admission to Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur.
* The candidate belonging to this type is not required to appear for the MHT-CET/AIEEE.
2. Admission to First Year MCA : Passed with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of candidates of backward class categores belonging to the Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities and having studied Mathematics & Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination AND Appeared and qualified for AIMCET 2008 or MAH-MCA-CET-2008 or any other equivalent entrance examination conducted for the academic year 2008-09.
3. Admission to First Year MBA: Passed with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate* ( 40% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration AND Candidate should be an Indian National and should possess basic qualification AND Appeared for and scored 20 or more marks in the MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2008 and appeared for the GD & PI conducted by the Competent Authority of the Maharashtra State for the academic year 2008-2009.
Provisional Admission Criteria:
i) The candidates who falls under any one of the categories of NRI Candidates / Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin / Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries with above said eligibility criteria may apply in prescribed format "Admission Request Form". The completed "Admission Request Form" along with Demand Drafts of Advance Payments & along with necessary documents should be sent directly to the College address given below by courier or speed post:

ii) Seats will be booked on the basis of merit if it is oversubscribed otherwise on first come first served basis.

iii) Provisional admission can be given if vacancy exists on payment of advance fees of 500 US dollars (approx. 20000 INR).

iv) The admission on payment of prescribed fees as advance is valid upto 31st July i.e., starting of new academic year. The admission gets automatically cancelled if the payment of balance fees is not made before 31st July.

v) Admission in Hostel if needed, may be taken at the time of confirmation of admission.

vi) 5 rooms in Girls hostel and 25 rooms in Boys hostel have been reserved for FN/PIO/GULF/NRI students.

vii) In case, the results of “A” level / XII / equivalent examination are awaited, the candidates can also apply for provisional admission. However, they are required to submit the “A” level / XII or equivalent examination certificate at the time of confirmation of admission

viii) Last date for admission is 30th August 2008. However, Classes will commence from 5th August 2008.

Documents required for provisional admission:
a) ¨“O” level certificate, if the candidate has appeared from outside INDIA
b) ¨“A” level certificate, if the candidate has appeared from outside INDIA, and if results are declared, otherwise it is optional until the confirmation of admission.
c) VISA (either working / business) of NRI / Guardian of NRI (attested Photocopy)
d) Employer Certificate or Salary Certificate of NRI / Guardian of NRI (attested Photocopy)
e) Passport copy of NRI / Guardian of NRI (attested Photocopy)
f) Affidavit of Guardian of NRI (Original)
g) Affidavit of Parents of NRI if Guardian is appointed (Original) (click for format here)
h) ¨Certificate to the effect that the candidate has appeared for “A” level examination with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects.
i) HSSC Marks Sheet, if candidate has appeared from India.
j) SSC Marks Sheet, if candidate has appeared from India.
k) School / College Leaving / Transfer Certificate.
l) Migration Certificate from Board if the candidate has appeared from board other than Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education (MSSB).
m) "Recommendation letter" from any two senior teachers of their institution.
n) Self-assessment / undertaking of candidate that he/she possess proficiency in English language.
o) Preferably the candidates should also submit the result of SAT i.e., Scholastic Aptitude Test, if any.
The candidates will be given an offer letter of Provisional Admission based on the above requirements and after payment of requisite fees.

Based on “Provisional Admissions Offer Letter”, the candidate should contact Indian Embassy of their country for obtaining a valid Student Visa for complete tenure of course i.e., 4 years. The candidate will have to pay requisite fees of Visa at their Embassy.
Last date for confirmation of Admission is 1st Monday of August every year. All candidates should submit the required original documents for confirmation of admission latest by the prescribed last date, failing which such provisional admission will stand cancelled.
Fees and Expenses:
The tuition and other fees payable by the NRI Candidates AND Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin / Children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries under 15% supernumerary quota are as per following:

FEE STRUCTURE

1. Following is the per year fee charged to the candidates belonging to the category of Foreign Nationals/Foreign Students/PIO (Except citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh) and who will be admitted to four year degree course in the Engineering/Technology for academic year 2008-09.

In addition to above fee candidates belonging to the category of Foreign Nationals/Foreign students/PIO (Except citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh)have to pay the processing fee of INR 15000/-(Rs. Fifteen thousands only) at the time of application by DD drawn in favor of Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur Payable at Nagpur.

Note: In addition to above fees the candidate is also required to pay Caution Money Deposit of US $ 500 (which is refundable)
2. Following is the per year fee charged to the candidates belonging to the category of Children of NRI / Children of Indian workers in Gulf Countries/Candidates of SAARC Countries and who are admitted to four year degree course in the Engineering/Technology:

The candidates belonging to the category of Children of NRI / Children of Indian workers in Gulf Countries/Candidates of SAARC countries (Except citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh) have to pay the processing fee of INR 5000/-(Rs. Five thousands only) at the time of application by DD drawn in the favor of Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur Payable at Nagpur.

Note: In addition to above fees the candidate is also required to pay Caution Money Deposit of US $ 500 (which is refundable)

Confirmation of Provisional Admission:
Once the provisional admission letter is issued to the candidate, he/she will have to produce the following testimonials to confirm their admission:

¨ Transcript copy and certificates of the qualifying examination ('O' Level & 'A' Level).
¨ Birth Certificate.
¨ A copy of their passport.
¨ Students Visa.
¨ Migration Certificate.
¨ A recent passport size photograph (4 nos.)
¨ Receipt of payment made to our college.
Note: This confirmed provisional admission at institution level shall be finally approved by Director of Technical Education, Mumbai and Nagpur University, Nagpur.

Enrolment in Nagpur University:
After securing admission at this institute, the candidate is required to complete the process of obtaining the Enrolment Number from Nagpur University, Nagpur and by paying the requisite fees.
