Train accident prevented due to 12 year old

A disastrous train accident was prevented from happening due to the 12-year-old Maruthupandi. On thursday morning the track between Dindigul and Ambathurai near Thomaiyarpuram developed a crack of length 93 cm. The boy had heard a loud bang when the Chennai bound Vaigai express crossed his area , on close inspection he found that pieces of rail track was scattered all over the place . He immediately alerted his parents who informed about the matter to the nearest Level crossing gatekeeper. When the boy noticed the Madurai bound passenger train heading his way, he alerted the engine driver by waving a red cloth .The boy had to run a few yards to get the attention of the engine driver. The driver was able to stop the train just in time. This is the fifth time the track had developed a crack in one month. A senior railway official said that the frequency of rail fracture had increased due to traffic .He also said that the tracks would be replaced by new ones soon.
