1. HOW TO APPLY :
Prescribed application forms with Prospectus will be available in the Office of the Controller of Examinations at Tanhril during office hours on payment of Rs.100/- for SC/ ST and Rs.200/- for others in cash or through SBI Demand Draft in favour of Mizoram University. Application Forms/Prospectus can also be obtained through post by remitting Rs.30/- extra as postal charges. Form downloaded from our University website should be submitted with required fees.
2. LAST DATE FOR APPLICATION :
Application forms duly completed in all respect are to be submitted to the Head of the concerned Department(s) on or before 15thJuly, 2008. Applications received after the specified date will not be entertained. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Entrance Examination for B. B. Admission Criteria 1. Only those candidates who have passed a Three Year Degree Course (Honours) in the relevant subject shall ordinarily be considered for admission to the Master Degree Course. (a) For Forestry : B.Sc. (Honours) in Forestry/Agriculture/Horticulture/Botany (b) For Forest Ecology, Biodiversity & Environmental Sciences : B.Sc. (Honours) in Botany/Zoology/Environmental Science/Bio-Chemistry/Chemistry with combination of Botany/Zoology (c) For Horticulture, Aromatic & Medicinal Plants : B.Sc. (Honours) in Botany/Forestry/Bio-Chemistry/Chemistry/Agriculture with combination of Botany/Zoology (d) For Bio-Technology : B.Sc. (Honours) in Biotechnology/Botany/Zoology/ Biochemistry with Chemistry or B.Sc. (Honours) in Chemistry with Botany/Zoology as subsidiary subjects. (e) For B. Tech (Information Technology and Electronics & Communication Engineering) : At least 50% marks in aggregate in "10+2" examination having Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. (f) For MBA : Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with 50% marks in aggregate.
However, subject to availability of seats, upto ten percent of seats may be assigned to students from other disciplines. It is also provided that if teaching of Honours in a subject has not been ‘sufficiently developed within the jurisdiction of the University or in any unit in particular,’ seats in the concerned Department may be filled in a manner as may be decided by the respective Department.
2. A candidate with 50% marks in B.Ed. may also apply for admission to M.A. Education course. 3. A candidate who has acquired a Diploma in Engineering (60% marks & above) through a minimum three years of institutional study can be considered to be academically equivalent to a student who has passed the first year of the four years Engineering Programme. Lateral entry for such Diploma holders will be allowed in the Second Year (Third Semester) level, if seats are available. 4. The distribution of seats shall be as follows : (i) Open Category - 50% (ii) SC/ST candidates - 50% *OBC Reservation may apply if applicable to Mizoram University located in Tribal belt of NER. 5. Three percent of the above seats shall be reserved for Physically challenged (as specified by PWD Act, 1995). Such applications will be centrally examined by a Medical Board, 3% of the seats may be reserved for the disabled candidates. An applicant with 40% to 60% disability may be given 5% added weightage and above 60%, 7% added weightages. 5. 10 percent of the above seats (Sl. No. 4) are earmarked as University special quota for the following categories: (a) Unrepresented Backward Areas The level of backwardness may be determined vis-a-vis the national level of literacy. An applicant coming from an area having upto 5% below the national level of literacy may be given 5% added weightage to the marks obtained by the applicant at the qualifying exams. (vide table 1 showing the district wise literacy rate of the region) (b) Outstanding Sportsmen/Sportswomen 10% weightage for representing the country at International Level, 5% for representing the State at National Level and 3% for Inter-University at National Level added weightage to the marks obtained at qualifying exams. (c) Children of Regular Employees of Mizoram University 7% weightage to the marks obtained at the qualifying exams. Certificate of employment may be issued by the Office of the Registrar.
