Job Description
We are looking candidate for SQL DBA Position for our UK base client.
Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
The individual would be expected on a daily basis to process all data related support calls allocated by the DBA Team Leader and assist in the daily support and aintenance of all database. In addition they would be expected to assist in general server related calls were there was a requirement.
During the course of the financial year the individual will be expected to assist in a number of projects which will range from Remote Office Installations to Products roll-outs on al global basis.
Technical Responsibilities
* Database Management of all production servers within the MDLIMITED domain including regular maintenance, daily backups, disaster recovery, faulty tolerance, security checks, and general database support and standards. This will include all production database servers;
* Database Management of all other servers within the MDLIMITED domain including regular maintenance, daily backups, disaster recovery, fault tolerance, security checks, and general database support and standards. This will include all database servers not included within the production environment;
* General Server and Network support when require.
* Desktop Support when support.
Technical Requirements
The candidate must be able to demonstrate good technical understanding of the following areas:-
Server administration
· Windows 2000
Active Directory
· User management
· Share administration
· IIS 5.0
Network administration
· Good understanding of TCP/IP, routing and subnetting
SQL Administration (SQL Server 2000)
· User and security administration
· Creating and dropping databases
· Good understanding of all types of Replication
· Backup, restore and DR procedures
· Managing and creating jobs and maintenance plans
· Managing SQL Replication- Merge, Transactional and Snapshot
· Performance monitoring and optimisation
· Schema modifications.
SQL Development (SQL Server 2000)
* Strong transact SQL
* Writing stored procedures, functions and triggers
* Data modification and validation
* Loading and extracting data using DTS, TSQL, and bcp
* Command lines tools.
Other
* Change management and technical documentation experience
* Knowledge of .NET Framework an advantage
* Knowledge of N-Tier architecture
* Desktop support
Windows 2000 Professional
Office XP and 2000
Internet explorer
General Requirements/Experience Required

* Numerate, literate, strong analytical skills
* Self starter, well organized and high productivity
* Deadline hitter with interest in being part of growing venture
* Flexible to work on shifts
General Experience
* Minimum 18 months commercial experience preferably within a financial institution;
* Experience managing mission critical databases;
Qualifications/Certification
Minimum Requirements
* Preferably a graduate with an IT related degree
* SQL Server MCP
Preferred Requirement
* Microsoft Certified Database Administrator(MCDBA)
