Hi !
I attended L&T Company on 21st June,2008 . There , I first attended the
Written test which consisted of three sections:
1.Numerical Ability
2.Analytical Ability
3.Verbal Ability
I didn't prepare priorly to the Interview as I knew it only the
previous day of the Interview . I am basically a woman of confidence & I can be
highly self-motivated . I feel that more than preparation , the presence of
mind during the written test will be more useful .
So , I believed in myself . I got the Questions Paper & Rough sheet
along with the answer sheet to be shaded according to the correct options . I
wasn't frightened/tensed to write the test as all the sections need only
general knowledge to be used to choose the right options .
1. I first started with the first Mathematical Section . I first filled
answers which I got very easily like age problems , general number series , A.P
& G . P, Number figures were all dead easy . I left out the ones which needed
formula for calculation & jumped to the next section .
2. Analytical section was like I was given some names like Teena ,
Sunil , Neetha ,etc & the instruments they can play . Eg. Teena can play Violin
but can't play Guitar . If Teena was selected , then Neetha should be
eliminated . Similarly , Sunil can play all the instruments . If Teena was
selected for the performance , who all will take place in the performance ?
Isn't this very easy ? Like this only , just presence of mind & concentration
helps you to shade the correct answer .
3. Then I proceeded to the next section , the Verbal ability . In this
you can't predict the particular right answer , you need to neglect the wrong
options which you feel is not the answer & then need to detect the exact
correct answer from the rest of the choices . It consisted if Synonyms , fill
in the blanks with correct words , one word substitution & also from a
paragraph questions will be asked & you need to find the right answers from the
paragraphs .
After I completed my written test , I was informed of the results
after an hour . Out of 800 , 30 members were selected for the second round .
Group Discussion (G.D). I hate G.D as already I have attended L&T , cleared
written & lost in G.D before . I don't want to be rejected again in G.D. So , I
prepared myself to be bold , as I am shy , by nature .
I said to myself that shyness will not give you any job & slowly I
turned bold . I gained confidence to speak out in-front of a group of people .
An excellent tip for G.D is : it's really a secret for success in G.D . Just
listen it very carefully , this will ride your path to success definitely .
Before you enter the G.D room,just make friends with the people you're going to
discuss with . It's a valuable trick which worked out for me . I don't want
anyone to lose in G.D.
The topic was very simple : LOVE MARRIAGE OR ARRANGED MARRIAGE . I
just cooled myself as it was very familiar to me . Another boy initiated the
discussion as he supported for arranged marriage . Then , I & my friend
supported for Love Marriage . At last everyone participated in G.D's actively &
you know what was the result ?
Actually , the company's requirement was too low like 2 from 800 .
That too , they have planned earlier that not to select any from Computer
Engineering . Unfortunately , I was also from Computer branch . So , everyone
were washed out in my Group . I tried my level best . I was satisfied with my
performance & hence didn't worry about the failure . I happily went home . Now
too am looking out for great companies .
So , even if you lose , don't at all take it to your heart . Just ,
think that as the energy 'BOOST' & go on . SUCCESS WILL ONE DAY , SURELY BE
UNDER YOUR FOOT . All the very best , Friends !

should make use of net . You need to check out the website of
that company & you should develop knowledge of that company .
Then , you need to check out how many rounds are
there in that particular company . Surely , you'll have Written
Test , Technical & H.R Round . There is also Group Discussion
(G.D) in certain companes .
At first , focus in Written Test , for that you need
to check out the previous question papers of written test in
previous years . Mostly , the same type of questions only will
be asked . Eg. In TCS , there'll be 95% repetition of the
previous papers . So , don't worry , if you have TCS campus .
So , for written , just work out & know the concepts of previous
question papers in the websites like :

http://www.indiastudychannel.com
http://www.koolkampus.com & much more .
Search it through Google , you'll get more . If you practice
more , surely you'll clear out the Written .
The second thing is you need to prepare for the
Interview Section . For this you should totally avoid fear ,
shyness , inferiority complex & you should have in mind that
you'll clear it confidentally . For this , you need to check out
some of the Technical Interview questions . It depends on the
Department you chose .
Get in with confidence & reach out with Success .

The only thing which makes me a bit nervous is the Group Discussions.About other things i'm pretty sure about them. But in GDs , it sometimes becomes difficult to get the ideas impromptu and then becomes difficult to speak.

the second time I attended L & T . When I attended L & T for the
first time , I didn't prepare for the Written that time too but
got selected to G.D. You know I had a very funny experience due
to my fear & nervousness .
I was allotted to perform G.D with around 15 people .
Among them 4 were Punjabi's & all had great professional looks .
I was very very nervous . I took a great sigh & then we were
assigned the topic : CLEANLINESS . I know it's dead-easy to
discuss about . Everyone , except two including me didn't open
the mouth for more than 15 minutes . ( Do you know onething, G.D
itself lasted for only 15 min) .
Then , I got rejected in that . I know the result
before starting the G.D itself . Ok , then as I said at first
about my G.D in L & T when I attended for the second time . This
time , I had a point in mind , that I should come forward to
speak out atleast a single point . But , I did more than that .
I did it excellently . I got the topic:LOVE MARRIAGE OR ARRANGED
MARRIAGE .
But , you need to go through some of the general
G.D topics & Engineering G.D topics & gain some points in that ,
so that you'll be able to discuss with those issues in G.D , if
you get that particular topic . General topics are :
1.Is China a threat to Indian software industry ?
2.Love Marriage or Arranged Marriage ?
3.Cleanliness
4.Should India be in peace in Pakistan ?
5.Balance between Professionalism & Family ?
6.Current Trends in IT industry ?
These are the general topics asked frequently . Likewise check
out other discussion issues in freshersworld.com , it's more
valuable .
The only thing which will help you to speak out
is , you should talk to your G.D mates before you start out the
discussion . Talk to them as if you're having very bold nature &
be jovial with them outside itself , prior to the main G.D , as
I said priorly , this will help you a lot . So , you'll not find
any barrier to discuss with them . Try out this . Once you get
practised , ie. do some mock G . D 's within your college
friends , you can excel in main G . D .
