The Department of Electronics Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh is considered one of the most active departments in the university in terms of publications, R&D output, and sponsored research projects. It is the first department in the Faculty of Engineering to get the DRS status from the UGC. It regularly organizes workshops and seminars.

The department is now organizing an International Conference on Multimedia, Signal Processing and Communication Technologies (IMPACT-2009) from 14th - 16th March 2009. The event is expected to provide an interactive platform to engineers, scientists, teachers, researchers and students to exchange their innovative ideas and experiences in the areas of multimedia, Signal Processing and Communication technologies.

The theme of the conference has been chosen in view of the revolution that rapid developments in the fields of electronics and communications have brought to almost every sphere of human life.
