ADMISSION NOTIFICATION FOR M.A / M.Sc. / M.Com COURSES

THE UNIVERSITY OF BURDWAN DIRECTORATE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION GOLAPBAG : BURDWAN ADMISSION NOTIFICATION FOR M.A / M.Sc. / M.Com COURSES Applications in prescribed form are invited for admission to the M.A /M.Sc. / M.Com Part I Courses in the following subjects for the academic session 2008-2010. Subjects : (1) English , (2) Political Science, (3) Bengali, (4) History (5) Philosophy, (6) Sanskrit, (7) Mathematics & (8) Commerce (A) The following categories of candidates are eligible for admission to M.Com, Part I Course : (i) A minimum 2nd Class Honours graduate in commerce having pursued the course in the 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University , or, (ii) An Unsuccessful Honours candidate of the above pattern (i) but who after having pursued the Honours course at both the Part-I & Part-II stages obtained Pass Degree Certificate of Three Year Course securing at least 35% marks in aggregate (in Honours subject), or, (iii) A minimum 2nd Class Honours (Regular or Special) graduate in Commerce of the old 11+3 pattern, or, (iv) A Pass Commerce graduate in the 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate , or, (v) A pass commerce graduate in the 10+2+2/10+1+3/11+3 pattern from any recognized Institution, who subsequently passed One-year Bridge Course in Commerce securing at least 40% marks in it. (B) The following Categories of candidates are eligible for admission to M.A. / M.Sc. in Mathematics Part-I course : (i) A minimum 2nd Class Honours graduate in Mathematics having pursued the course in the 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University , or, (ii) An Unsuccessful Honours candidate of the above pattern (i) but who after having pursued the Honours course at both the Part-I & Part-II stages obtained Pass Degree Certificate of Three Year Course securing at least 35% marks in aggregate (in Mathematics Honours subject), or, (iii) A minimum 2nd Class Honours (Regular or Special) graduate in Mathematics of the old 11+3 pattern, or, (iv) A B.A/B.Sc Pass graduate in the 10+2+3 pattern having offered Mathematics as a combination/elective one ( of not less than 300 marks) at the degree stage securing at least 50% marks in it, or, (v) A Pass Commerce graduate in the 10+2+2/10+1+3/11+3 pattern from any recognized Institution, who subsequently passed One-year Bridge Course in Mathematics securing at least 40% marks in it. (C) The following Categories of candidates are eligible for admission to M.A. Part-I course : (i) A minimum 2nd Class Honours graduate in the relevant subject having pursued the course in the 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University, or, (ii) An Unsuccessful Honours candidate of the above pattern (i) but who after having pursued the Honours course at both the Part-I & Part-II stages obtained Pass Degree Certificate of Three Year Course securing at least 35% marks in aggregate (in concerned Honours Subject), or, (iii) A Pass graduate in the 10+2+3 pattern having offered the relevant subject as a combination/elective one (of not less than 300 marks) at the degree stage securing at least 40% marks in it, or, (iv) B.Sc /B.Com/B.A Pass graduate who subsequently passed Special B.A. (of not less than 300 marks in the relevant subject) securing at least 40% marks in it,or, (v) A Pass graduate in the 10+2+2/10+1+3/11+3 pattern from any recognized Institution who subsequently passed One-year Bridge Course in the relevant subject ( of not less than 300 marks at the degree stage) and thus became equivalent to the Pass graduate of 10+2+3 pattern securing at least 40% marks in it,or, (vi) An M.A in a subject willing to do M.A. in any other subject offered through Distance Mode irrespective of whether or not that subject was offered by him/her at the degree stage, provided that no M.A. in any professional subject like Music, Drama, Film Studies, Physical Education (M.P.Ed), General Education(M.Ed) etc. is entitled to this special provision. Provided further that no M.A in ‘Islamic History and culture’ or ‘Ancient History and culture’ from any University is entitled to do M.A again in History from this University. Availability of Prospectus and Form: Prospectus containing admission form will be available on and from the first date of issue of the relevant subject on payment of Rs. 100/- in cash and on production of original (B.Com/B.A (Pass or Honours)/Spl BA/ Bridge/M.A , as the case may be) marksheet from the Directorate’s Counter at DDE Complex, Golapbag on all working days excluding all Saturdays, Sundays and other otified holidays from 11 a.m to 2 p.m . n Prospectus and form will also be available at the University Camp Office at 8, Indra Roy Road , Kolkata –700025 ( Bhowanipur , near Indira Cinema ) in the similar manner on office days against Demand Draft for Rs. 100/- in the manner mentioned below from 11a.m to 2 p.m . No IPO / Cash payment is accepted there. Our forms are sold neither from any other place except those two University Offices nor through any outside Agency or so-called Study Centre . Form & Challan can also be downloaded from the University Website: http:/www.buruniv.ac.in and candidates obtaining the form from the Website must pay extra amount of Rs 100/- (as the price of form) alongwith the Course fee of Rs. 3000/- (M.A./M.Com Courses) & Rs. 5000/- (M.A/M.Sc in Mathematics) and Registration and Inward Migration/Restoration fee of Rs.150/- (applicable for other University candidates) while submitting the form to the University. Such Candidates will have to submit the filled in forms and other related documents to the Office of the Directorate. The Original documents will be verified at the time of submission of form. The University, however, regrets to notify that due to tight schedule of admission, it will not be possible to send form y Post to any candidate. B Course Fee & Mode of Deposition: For this part a Course fee of Rs. 3000/- (M.A./M.Com Courses) & Rs. 5000/- (M.A/M.Sc in Mathematics) has to be deposited before the submission of the completed form. “Other University Students” will also be required to deposit a total fee of Rs. 150/- along with the Course fee before submission of the completed form. The fee can be deposited either in Cash or in the form of Demand Draft. The University advises students coming from far off places to better bring with them the Demand Draft to avoid long queues in Cash Receiving ounters. C For both the means of depositing the fee , candidates must strictly follow Section 18 of the Prospectus. Demand Drafts should be drawn on State Bank of India, payable at Burdwan favouring “Directorate of Distance Education, The University of Burdwan.” Mode of Submission of form : Follow Section 3 & 3.1 of Prospectus. Since Study Material in full or in part, as the case may be, will be supplied to candidates By Hand on the day of admission, candidates are advised to avoid sending the forms By Post. They should report personally for submitting these at the Directorate at DDE Complex, olapbag, Burdwan. G Candidates willing to submit the application forms on the day of purchase itself from the Directorate must bring with them (i) the required Course fee in the manner as advised above (ii) Self-signed Photocopies of all academic credentials starting from Madhyamik onwards (iii) Self-signed photocopy of B.U Registration Certificate in case he/she is a graduate of this University (iv) Self-signed photocopy of Admit Card of the Madhyamik or equivalent examination (v) Self-signed photocopy of the Caste certificates (applicable in case of OBC/SC/ST candidates only) (vi) Attested one (1) Passport size recent photograph and (vii) Two (2) unattested Stamp size recent photographs. (viii) Ten (10) Nos. of self addressed sticker (in case the form is downloaded from the Website).
