Sometime you don’t want any public member to access your computer data. The simplest way to access the data in a PC is through the USB Slot. Devices like Pen Drives and Removable Hard Disks can access the computer through the USB Slot.

So to protect the PC from Public use you can disable USB Slot while allowing your Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner and others to keep working. Disabling the USB function can be very useful for public computers where you need to keep people away from copying its content.

This works only for Windows Operating system.

1) Click START and select RUN. Type regedit to bring up the registry editor.

2) Find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usbstor

3) Click on the Usbstor Folder. You can see a file named ‘Start’ with a value 3. Change the value to 4.

Your PC’s USB service will be disabled.
