Facts about marriage registration

Many people don't register a marriage either because they don't know the procedure or they don't know its significance.
Marriage registration is mandatory by law.Marriage registration has to be done in Registrar’s office. Husband & wife both should be present. Witnesses are needed to sign the form. It has to be done in front of marriage Registrar. Nowadays everything is computerised & digital photos will be taken in Registrar’s office itself. If registration is done within 1 month of marriage, fee is very less.If it is delayed, fine will be charged.
Marriage registration is very important & certificate will be issued.This certificate can be used as identity proof whenever needed like at airport,etc.

1)It will decrease the % of child marriages
2)It may decrease the abuse of female by husband -National Commission for Women (NCW)
