Applications are invited upto 20th November, 2008 for the posts of Director in the scale of pay of Rs.18400-500-22400
Institute of Cytology & Preventive Oncology (ICPO) aims at promoting research in the field of common cancers in India , with an emphasis on early detection and prevention. Multidisciplinary studies involving, cytomorphological, cytogenetic, biochemical virological, immunological and molecular biological, epidemiological, behavioral, and clinical aspects are being undertaken. ICPO promotes human resource development through, Ph.D. and M.D. program, in-service training, and workshops. The Institute is a National Reference Centre for HPV and cervical cancer and provides specialized diagnostic referral services.
The qualifications for the post of Director,ICPO, Noida are:
Qualification & Experience :
Essential:
(i) Postgraduate degree in medical subjects recognized by MCI or Doctorate Degree in Life/Biological Sciences or relevant biological subjects or statistics from a recognized University or equivalent.
(ii) Fifteen years research experience in the required area.
Desirable:
(i) Additional Post doctoral research or teaching experience in relevant subjects after M.D./Ph.D.
(ii) Knowledge of Computer Applications.
Job Requirements:
This is a top research management post concerned with basic and applied research in the field of Oncology. The incumbent is expected to formulate and conduct research programmes and also collaborate with reputed Institutes in India and abroad. The Director is also to interact with Central and State Health Authorities for cancer control programmes. He/she should have the leadership quality for taking over all responsibility for research and managerial functions within the framework of the ICMR system and ensuring a congenial atmosphere conducive for creative research.
AGE :
Preferably below 50 years. Relaxable up to 5 years for Government servants in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel and Training from time to time in this regard.
Allowances as per Central Government Rules are admissible on the above pay scale. Benefit of new restructured defined Contributory Pension system are admissible as per the provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (ECB & PR Division), Notification No.5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 01.01.2004.
Private practice is not allowed, however, non-practicing allowances is admissible to medical graduates only as per rules. Candidates called for interview will be paid a 1st class rail fare by the shortest route on production of documents.
Applications from employees working in Central/State Govt. Department Public Sector Undertaking and Govt. funded research agencies must be forwarded through proper channel.
Application forms and other information are obtainable from the office of the Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, V.Ramalingaswami Bhawan, Ansari Nagar, Post Box 4911, New Delhi-110029. Forms duly completed in all respects should be sent on the same address along with attested copies of the certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualification, experience etc. on or before the last date along with a crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) for Rs.100/-(Rupees One Hundred only) payable to the Director General, ICMR, New Delhi. SC/ST & physically handicapped candidates are exempted from this payment. Incomplete/late applications or without postal orders will not be entertained.
NOTE: Since it is not possible to call all the eligible candidates for the interview/personal discussion, the applicants will be short-listed for this purpose. The decision of the Director General, ICMR will be final in this regard. Any canvassing by or on behalf of the candidates or to bring political or other outside influence with regard to selection/ recruitment shall be disqualification. This post is with all India transfer liability under the Council.
