Well Control School is situated at Institute of Drilling Technology, Dehradun, India.
The Institute is relentlessly engaged in various R&D activities of oil well drilling.
Moreover, the Institute has been conducting well control courses for over 20 years, using full size derrick floor simulator and a fully operational drilling rig.
WCS was established at IDT with the aim to provide core knowledge and job
related skills for handling well control situations with competency. The school is
fully accredited by the IWCF certification program, IADC Well - CAP program,
and the IAWC joint program.
IWCF Accreditation from July 1997
IADC Well - CAP Accreditation from July 1998
IAWC Accreditation from August 1998
WCS has a full size derrick floor drilling & work over simulator. The simulator has
the facilities to simulate drilling and work over well control exercises in straight,
directional & horizontal wells. It provides hands - on training on various aspects
of drilling with emphasis on well control problems.
This state of art simulator can simulate many down hole problems in surface
and sub-sea environment. Trainees are exposed to various operational failures
and their remedial measures.
WCS has a faculty consisting of eight full time Instructors with engineering back
ground, to conduct these certification courses. They all have field experience
of over 12 years on various onshore and offshore rigs (including sub-sea). With
such qualified and experienced instructors, WCS keeps abreast with the latest
advancements in oil field drilling and well control technology.
The faculty not only deliberate impeccable lecture room discussions on various
well control aspects but also provide hands - on training on the simulator.
A new simulator model DRILLSIM – 5000 has been installed and commissioned at IDT.. It is an advanced, full-size rig floor drilling and well control simulator designed to meet the training requirements of equipment operation and well control techniques in onshore and offshore environments.
The simulator offers immense flexibility in the software and simulated drilling equipment to drill a well and perform well-control exercises. It is equipped with a range of simulated consoles, equipment and manifolds closely resembling those found on a modern drilling rig floor.
FEATURES OF SIMULATOR
Deep Water well control simulation
Trapped gas removal in sub - sea killing
Well control while Tripping / Stripping operations
Simulation of simultaneous loss and kick situations
Gas Solubility effect & different rates of gas migration
Driller's, W&W, Volumetric, Low Choke methods, Bull heading
Simulation of well control situations in HPHT and Horizontal Wells

|I have two questions:|
1)I'm currently unemployed. So since I don't represent a company, can I register for the course?
2) If so, could you please give me the schedule and location of centres of the course?

I am eligible for any of these course? If I plan to shift to drilling/sub sea engineering? how is my carrier path? how should I start??|
