Paper 1 – Teaching Techniques/Pedagogical Techniques in Higher Education

Unit -1 Higher Education and Learning
Historical Perspectives, Objectives and Role of Higher Education, Learning and Learning Hierarchy, Information Processing, Learning Events and Outcome.

Unit – 2 Technology in teaching
Concept of teaching, levels of teaching and phases of teaching; audio, video, educational films, computers, etc., Instructional Designs: Objective based, Skill Based, Competency Based, Learning Style Based and Model Based.

Unit – 3 Curriculum Design and Methods of Teaching
Curriculum design: Approaches, Curriculum Development, Needs-Based Courses.

Teaching Methods:
Large Group Techniques: Lecture, Seminars, Symposiums, Panel Discussion, Team Teaching, Project Approach and Workshops.

Unit - 4 Methods of Teaching and Evaluation
Small Group Teaching: Group Discussions, Simulation, Role – Plays, Buzz Techniques,Brain Storming, Case Discussion and Assignments, Projects and Workshops.Evaluation and feedback: Measurement and Examination Reforms, including Setting Question Papers. Self- Evaluation and Student Evaluations in Higher Education.

Unit – 5 Alternative Methods of Learning
Distance and Open Learning, Self-Learning and Informal Learning.
Instructional Media: e-Learning Resources, Database of Learning recourses, e- books, ejournals,etc., Web Based Learning.
