The Institute The Indian Institute of Capital Markets (IICM) was established in 1989 by the erstwhile, Unit Trust of India as UTI Institute of Capital Markets. IICM has emerged as one of the premier institutes of the securities markets in Asia. The Institute has contributed significantly to the development of Indian capital markets by conducting policy research, offering executive education programmes and providing advisory service to the market intermediaries in India and other developing markets. IICM started a flagship one-year full-time programme known as Securities Markets Programme (SMP) in the year 2004. Currently, the third batch of SMP is in progress.
Financial Engineering and Risk Management
About the Programme The landscape financial services sector in India has undergone metamorphic changes in the recent past. Globalisation, deregulation and marketisation have thrust innovations in processes, products, practices and service standards.
All this demanded a new set of professionals to innovate and compete in order to grow domestically and become internationally competitive players. Continual up-gradation of skills is the need of the hour. IICM, considering the new demand, has designed a six-month certificate course on “Financial Engineering and Risk Management”.
The prospective candidates will be able to equip themselves with the modern products, processes, practices and techniques in the financial services industry.
The course is divided into following modules:

Equity Valuation and Pricing
Derivatives Valuation and Pricing
Portfolio Management
Fixed Income Securities Analysis
Credit Risk Modelling
Real Options
Financial Modelling and Econometric Packages
Risk Management
Case Studies Suitability For middle and senior executives working in banks, primary dealers, mutual funds, financial institutions, equity research firms, investment banks, corporate financial risk managers, brokerage houses and other financial services industry. Selection Based on the performance in the personal interview and counselling. Duration Six months (From January 19, 2008 to July 19, 2008) on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. Accommodation On payment basis accommodation may be made available subject to availability. Venue Indian Institute of Capital Markets, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Course fee Rs. 55,000/-(to be paid in two instalments i.e. Rs. 30,000/- and Rs. 25,000/- plus applicable taxes). Infrastructure IICM has state-of-art technology and classrooms. A well-equipped computer-lab with latest financial databases and softwares connected over LAN and with high-speed Internet broadband. IICM library holds a collection of highly specialised books and subscribes to journals to meet the requirements of the programme.
