Orange County
|
Coorg is a beautiful hill station in the western ghats. Whichever side you turn the nature blesses you with bountiful greenery and thick, dense forested mountains. In the midst of such bliss lies the famous orange county resorts. As the name suggests, this place had once been full of orange trees. But now you can find coffee plantations with a beautiful fragrance of the flowers of coffee plants. It also carries a beautiful combination of rubber trees along with pepper climbers.
The river Cauvery, which originates from the Talaikaveri flows through Orange county. This adds glamour to the whole mountain. We have boating facilities and the boat rushes into the river which is nearly 70 feet deep. And so we are cautioned to wear life jackets. The boatman takes us to a place where the river is a bit shallow so that we can a take a dip in the river. Both the banks of river Cauvery are filled with tall trees and a good fertile vegetation. We can have a sight of rare birds with beautiful feathers and a good number of animal population.
Rare sights of elephants and tigers are reported. A number of white feathered peacocks, turkies, swans, storks, pegions etc. surround us at once we come out of the cottage.
The cottage, especially the thatched cottages we choose will make us live with the nature. The cottage will have a very comfortable bed with a balcony. The toilet rooms are neatly furnished. Coffee powder, sweetener, milk powder, hot water will be readily available in the room. A morning walk around the orange county will refresh us just like anything. The freshness of the grass left behind the dew drops will surely brighten our eyes.
Nights are extremely cold in orange county especially in the season from november to february. The clear dark skies with twinkling stars simply speak to us. Jerkins, socks and sweaters are a must in this season.
The food provided in the orange county restaurant is simply divine. we will get all type of food and there are certain favourite dishes of mine. 1) sugarcane juice. 2) appam with vegetable stew. 3) coffee.
The chillness of the weather and the moisture content in the air rejuvenates our nerve and brain cells.
Moreover it has an ayurvedic center with all types of massage, a recreation hall with games like table tennis, carrom, chess etc., an anthurium garden beside a natural lake within orange county, an artificially created lake where boating will permitted in off season(this is in addition to boating in river cauvery), an antique gift shop etc.
Besides these we can visit thalaikaveri if we hire a cab.
Such a divine place always is a heaven for honeymooners. they can thoroughly enjoy here.
How to go? Orange County is just three hours from bangalore.

As of the 2000 census, its population was 2,846,293, though a July 2008 estimate placed the population at 3,010,759, making it the second most populous county in California, behind Los Angeles County and ahead of San Diego County.[1]
The county is famous for its tourism, the home of such attractions as Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, as well as several beaches along more than 40 miles (64 km) of coastline. It is also recognized for its nationally known centers of religious worship, such as Crystal Cathedral, Saddleback Church, Calvary Chapel, and the Newport Beach California Temple. It is known for its affluence and political conservatism.
Whereas most population centers in the United States tend to be identified by a major city, there is no defined urban center to Orange County. It is mostly suburban, except for some traditional downtown areas such as those of Anaheim, Santa Ana, Orange, Huntington Beach, and Fullerton. There are also several edge city-style developments such as the South Coast Metro and Newport Center.
While Santa Ana serves as the governmental center of the county, Anaheim is the main tourist destination and Irvine is the major business and financial hub. Four Orange County cities have populations exceeding 200,000: Santa Ana, Anaheim, Irvine, and Huntington Beach.[2]
Thirty-four incorporated cities are located in Orange County; the newest is Aliso Viejo, which was incorporated in 2001. Anaheim was the first city incorporated in Orange County. It was incorporated in 1870 when the region was still part of neighboring Los Angeles County.
