Module 3: Growth Theories of Firm

Growth Theories of a Firm – Downie, Penrose and Marries; Theories of Industrial Location – Weber, Sargant Florence, Hirschman, Misra and Losch; Factors Affecting Location.

Module 4: Market Performance

Growth of the Firm – Size and Growth; Growth and Profitability of the Firm; Constraints on Growth; Productivity, Efficiency and Capacity Utilisation – Concept and Measurement, Indian Situation.

Module 5: Classification of Industries and Policy Frame Work

Classification of Industries – Use Based and Resource Based; ASI two digit and three digit Classification; Industrial Policy in India – Role of Public and Private Sectors; Recent Trends in Industrial Growth; MNCs and Transfer of Technology; Liberalisation and Privatisation.
