Unit 1: Introduction 10 hours
HRM, Man Power Planning, Work Environment, TQM, Legal and ethical issues related
to HRM practice. HRM in the present Indian context
Unit 2: Performance Appraisal 12 hours
Need for objective evaluation: Techinques of Evaluation - 360 degrees appraisal, Six
Sigma Methodology, ISO certification, Behavioral Assessment, judgmental critera etc,
need for training in evaluation.
Unit 3: Human Problems at Work Place 16 hours
(a) Stress- Nature, type, individual and organizational consequences of stress
(b) Absenteeism- types, causes, measures to reduce absenteeism
(c) Motivation and Morale- nature of work motivation, problems of lack of
motivation, morale, interpersonal conflict
(d) Alcoholism ,gambling, personality disorders
(e) Gender discrimination and sexual harassment at the work place
Unit 4: Management of Behavioral Problems 12 hours
Counseling techniques to handle- job stress, dual career and family adjustment problems,
absenteeism, interpersonal relationship problem at the work place and the home affect ing
work performance, work pressure problems, Alcohol dependency
Unit 5: Soft Skills development 12 hours
Communication Skills, motivational analysis, leadership styles, team building, improving
interpersonal relationships, intergroup and intragroup conflict resolution, Goal Setting
