Manilal Joshi

Died at the age of 30 considered one of the great directors of the silent era.
He was the first to bring up the question of royalties for directors.
In 1924 he made ‘Prithvi Vallabh’, it was a historical romance made on grand scale and was commercial success.
In 1925, he made the first Indian feature films for Kohinoor Studios ‘Mojili Mumbai’ (The Slave of Luxury) on middle class Bombay life, a contemporary theme.
