Movie: Abiyum Nanum(Tamil) Cast: Prakash raj,Trisha,Ishwarya,Ganesh Venkatraman and others.
This is a very nice family entertainment! Best one to see with your family. The whole film runs in the cool scenario of Ooty. The whole film is about a father's feelings on his daughter. Prakash Raj, once again proves to an excellent artist. He lives in this role. Trisha has done a good role. The new lead, Ganesh Venkatraman is very cute in his Sardarji role and his role has been potrayed well. SO, this how the story goes. Ragu(Prakash Raj) is very fond of his only girl, abi(trisha) and loves her to the core. His experience with his daughter in every stage of her life is very nice to see until she gives a shock to her dad by choosing a Jogi, sardarji(Ganesh) to be her life partner. The climax is very sentimental and nice too. This film has a lot of rib-tickling comedy too. Songs are okay. But for Trisha's fans, this will be a little disappointment since there will be a lot of 'nanum'(Prakash Raj) than 'abiyum'(trisha). So, why are you waiting for? Have a check on this movie with your family.!

"Abhiyum Naanum" tells the story of a tender relationship between a doting father and his lovable, petite daughter. And also, Abhiyum Naanum is not a movie of cinematic essays loaded with violence and sleaze like hard liquor does, but leaves one with a nice, contented warmth within.
Commendable performances by actor Prakash Raj with Radha Mohan who took a wonderful movie "Mozhi".
Prakash Raj recounts his affection for his daughter Abhi (Trisha) from the time she was a little girl and how she grows up into a beautiful, lovable stranger.
The subtle differences of a child's growth is etched through a narrative partly featuring the younger version of Raghuraman, played by Prithviraj in a neat cameo. And it is interspersed with the presence of her mother Anu, essayed perfectly by Aishwarya.
Instead of pontificating about dos and the don'ts for families, the subject's humorous treatment enchants the audience.
Director Radha Mohan has shown with aplomb that what could have been shown in a 250-episode endlessly dragging mega serial can be depicted in a taut script.
Trisha, Otherwise known as a glam doll, her sensitive, excellent portrayal of Abhi shows what she is actually capable of.
Ganesh Venkatraman as the Sikh youth hero besotted with Abhi does a neat job.
Finally, Prakash Raj proves yet again that he has oodles of talent and can blossom under an understanding director.
Vidyasagar's music and Preetha's cinematography was the extra pound for the movie.

Hello friend ,
Radha Mohan, the director, came to the limelight after his super-hit Tamil film “Mozhi”. The film under review here is, of course, “ Abhiyum Naanum”. I see ‘Mozhi’ as the story of two young (I agree Prakash Raj is not so young) men with certain values. Their middle class background need not disturb us. As a class, middle class is amorphous and in the process of going out of existence though no one sees the writing on the wall. What value system can be nurtured in a class that is continuously aspiring to climb the social ladder but relentlessly pushed to the bottom line? The middle class family lives to repay the loans it took to build its flats and buy its cars. In those days families had a minimum of two digits number of children. It became two and now it is one. What is the story of the film “Abhiyum Naanum”? In one sentence, it says that when a child is born a father too is born (also a mother, grandmother and the list goes on) and the child and the father grow simultaneously. The father virtually dotes on his daughter as every father does. But the daughter does not seem to fall in line with the father’s expectations. Blasphemy of blasphemy, she falls in love with a Sikh youth! The racial and communal prejudices! Mankind is full of such prejudices. The Sikh will speak of the man from the south as “that Madrasi”, which is not a very respectable epithet in the north. The concerns of the father in the film are not the concerns of a middle class father, not to speak of working class families. Getting the female child married was the be all and end all of bringing up the female child. Now the struggle is to get them educated, get them a decent job where there will be no sexual harassment and no night shifts! It is also very difficult to protect them from the degrading culture spreading like cancer throughout the society.
We do appreciate the craftsmanship of the director, histrionic talents of the artistes, their good intentions (money making is the last of course) and entertainment value of the film. . Aishwarya has made a comeback in this film. The beggar composes poetry and sings too. His one song is the brand ambassador of the film. The choreography in the ‘theme song’ is quite good. A feel good film indeed! But in these days of ‘melt downs’ (the name has changed from ‘great depression’), retrenchments, lay offs, wars, hunger, malnutrition and unnatural deaths, such feel good films make you sleep when the need is to wake up. The gloss and glitter up there is not real, Mr. Radha Mohan! Values there are exhausted long back. There are great talks. But all the while they are lining up their purses without caring a bit for the suffering millions. At best they do some empty and tax deceiving philanthropic activities to lull their consciences.
with regards, S.Varadhu
