Author: Member Level: Gold    Points: 15

MBA in Shipping and Port Management is designed to equip students with adequate skills and knowledge in general management, information technology and specialization in shipping and port management. The curriculum generally focuses on the economics of sea transportation, shipping laws and marine insurance, charting, lines trade and multi-modal transportation and port management. You can visit the website of the institute for the details of subjects.

On successful completion of the course, candidates are eligible to occupy managerial positions in shipping companies, agency houses, clearing and forwarding firms, export/import houses and major ports among others. Other than Shipping and Port Management, you can opt for specializations like Finance, International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain and Logistics and so on. Choose a specialization keeping in mind your goals and interests.

A two year full time course cannot be equated with an executive MBA. Executive education (EMBA) is the term used for programmes at B-Schools which could be short-term, general management or customized programmes for managers and entrepreneurs. The duration can be anywhere from 15-18 months and is an autonomous course. The theory behind this is by attending an intensive programme on different facets of management as an entrepreneur and/or intra-preneur executives will be equipped with the knowledge to install change in their organization while enhancing their career graph.
