UNIT – VII Geosynthetics : Geotextiles- Types, Functions and applications – geogrids and geomembranes – functions and applications.
UNIT - VIII Expansive soils: Problems of expansive soils – tests for identification – methods of determination of swell pressure. Improvement of expansive soils – Foundation techniques in expansive soils – under reamed piles.
