Hi,

We have to be proud that Hinduism considers that Ramayana and Mahabharata are considered as the two great epics. It really makes us realise what is life, human relationships etc.

A good piece of information which gives us happiness.

Best regards,
Mala.

Ramayan is a great ancient epic of India. It was written in sanskrit by Sage Valmiki. Goswami Tulsidasji has also written 'Shri Ram Charit Manas' based on the life of Shri Ram.

The Ramayan is a great source of spiritual and cultural inspiration for us.

Swami Vivekanand has said, "Rama, the ancient idol of the heroic ages, the embodiment of truth, of morality, the ideal son, the ideal husband, and above all, the ideal king, this Rama has been presented before us by the great sage Valmiki. No language can be purer, none chaster, none more beautiful, and at the same time simpler, than the language in which the great poet has depicted the life of Rama."

Today, the 3rd of April, 2009, is the 'Ram Navmi', the birthday of Shri Ram which falls on the ninth day of hindu month 'Chaitra'.

Lord Ram is revered and remembered for his righteous and prosperous reign. This has given rise to the word 'Ramrajya', meaning the reign of Ram. The place having peace and prosperity is called the 'Ramrajya'.
