We all ar aware of professional courses M.B.B.S , B.D.s, B.E,B.A,.LL.b courses which are still today being sought after even though the job market isnt so exciting.Some others know of B.A, B.Ed and other lesser payng careers.Let us look at some fantastic options which are less known yet well paying and are in good demand. 1)DENTAL HYGIENIST-A dental hygienist is a licensed dental professional who specializes in preventive medical care, typically, but not limited to, focusing on techniques in oral hygiene.The dental hygiene process of care has five steps:
Assessing the patient: This includes, but is not limited to, a full review of the patient's medical history, necessary x-rays to be taken, a clinical exam, and a periodontal assessment. Dental hygiene diagnosis: Assessing of data pertaining to a client's condition in terms that will help identify problems so as to lead to a creation of an order to apply available professional therapies.The diagnosis of disease in most jurisdictions may only be performed by the doctor. Planning: creating a sequential treatment plan for the patient. The treatment plan will vary based on the patient's immediate needs. Implementation: Carrying out the plan. Evaluation: Determining the effectiveness of the work that was performed. Over a period of months or years a dental hygienist may have his or her work REQUIREMENTS: In India a certificate course is offered by most premier Dental colleges like GDC,Bangalore,GDC Chennai, Manipal academy,Manipal etc.. The eligiblity for most of these courses ia a pass in 10th . After one completes the course ,one can work initially with a dentist and then after gaining necessary exposure and experience work independently as a DH in Hospitals, Medical colleges etc.. This job has tremendous demand in the US, Uk because of lack of trained personnal.however the requirements there are stricter.
2)DENTAL CERAMIC TECHNOLOGY-Another course which will always be in demand.Here the person is trained about various types of dentures, fittings, moulds etc,,suitable for modern dentistry.After finishing the course one can work independently or initially get attached to a dental clinic.The work can be done from home also. Courses are offered as a Certificate mode by Sikkim Manipal University.This job also has tremendous potential abroad.
3)PHYSIOTHERAPY: Physiotherapy may be defined as a science that seeks to improve movement dysfunction, promote optimal health and functions of the human body. Physiotherapy helps in optimal functioning of the body. It involves the assessment, maintenance, restoration of the physical function and performance of the body and is strongly recommended for people with degenerative disorders, the physically challenged, sportspeople and those suffering from arthritis and neurological disorders. This preventive and remedial procedure is very often used as a supplement with oral medicines. It could also include heat radiation, water therapy, massages etc.The job of a physiotherapist, which is preventive, restorative and rehabilitative, is challenging but lucrative at the same time. They are qualified to perform a history and physical examination, conduct assessments to determine a diagnosis process, select appropriate physical therapy interventions to treat the dysfunction, and monitor the effectiveness of treatment. Physiotherapists use various therapeutic intervention techniques to treat a patient. Some of the them are Manual Therapy, TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation used to control pain), Ultrasound Technique, Electrical Muscle Stimulation, Manipulation, Acupuncture etc. Although the work of a physiotherapist may tend to be physically very strenuous as it involves physically lifting and supporting patients, their profession brings with it much satisfaction, since it involves relieving patients of pain and helping them recover from specific physical ailments. ELIGIBILITY-Usually after 10+2, students with science background can opt for this course.It is a three year course with some colleges putting in 6 months of compulsory internship. Many colleges offer this course-Manipal academy of higher education.Manipal. etc,, Job opportunities are a plenty after this course.Most of them join hospitals in rehabilitaive care section,Some join as Fitness Trainers. Some go in for MPT and specialise.Abroad this course has tremendous demand.
4)ANIMATION:'animation'- one of the fastest growing and most in-demand industries in the world. Multi media and Animation are among the major hunted jobs of the 21st century. Animation is a field that could be pursued by those who posses excellent creativity and drawing skills. Animators are the talented artists who create characters for a variety of projects like movies, television, advertisements and so on. An animators task is to read the script carefully, study the storyboard and try to get into the character. In other words he needs to know and understand the character. Job opportunities are on the rise for an animator and they are in great demand, as it a growing industry and has become a popular feature in movies and advertising.
ELIGIBILITY:Any graduate preferably arts graduate could apply for Post Graduation in animation. But some institutions such as Industrial Design Center (IDC), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Design (NID) follows eligibility criterion that only graduate of architecture, technology and engineering, fine arts can apply for the PG course in these institutes.
Besides these graduate and post graduate courses, there are several professional courses that focus on various styles and techniques. These courses, i.e Courses in Traditional animation , Stop-motion animation , Rotoscoping , Computer generated 3D and 2D animation , Clay-mation , Photoshop , Human anatomy , Drawing etc helps one to specialise in a particular area. One should also have a basic knowledge in computer handling.
An animator should have a good sense of colour, proportion, size, design, visualizations, knowledge of background art and layout. They must have expertise in computer design software. Knowledge of programming languagues (C++, Java) will be an added benefit. It is advantageous to understand photography, lighting and movement for those planning to work in computer animation. They must be able to visualise how an object will look in three dimensions and have the know-how to make an animated object look real. Many institute offer diploma and degree courses not to forget online courses.Pay is of course exciting going up only by the sheer talent of the animator.
5)EVENT MANAGEMENT:Event management is a process of organizing a professional and focused event, for a particular target audience. It involves visualising concepts, planning, budgeting, organizing and executing events such as fashion shows, musical concerts, corporate seminars, exhibitions, wedding celebrations, theme parties, product launching etc. It is a good career option which does not require much investment and offers a lot of independence and flexibility. No formal degree or qualification is required, but the person should have a genuine passion for conducting events, have very good organising ability and be flexible to work for long hours. 6)AUDIOLOGISTS AND SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS-Speech language pathologists and audiologists are concerned with the prevention, identification and rehabilitation of children and adults with communication disorders and hearing impairment. Audiologists examine people of all ages and identify symptoms of hearing loss, auditory, balance and related sensory and neural problems. They use specialized equipments like audiometers, computers and other testing devices to evaluate and estimate the impact of auditory and balance problems on the client's daily life. Audiologists then use the results from these tests to prepare a diagnosis and design a course of treatment by using remedial measures and rehabilitation strategies depending on what the situation demands.
Speech therapists or speech language pathologists work with people who have speech disorders like inability to produce sounds, speech rhythm and fluency problems and also people who have swallowing disorders due to problems like cleft palate or other medical conditions which may be congenital, developmental or acquired. Speech language pathologists' work involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of speech-related disorders, designing and employment of augmentative and alternative communication methods. Sometimes they also need to counsel and advise patients and their family to deal with speech disorders and situations arising because of them and alleviate stress and misunderstanding

7)MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION-Medical Transcription is one of the fastest growing fields in health care. Medical Transcriptionists are in demand in Western countries especially in the US where the entire healthcare industry is based on insurance and detailed medical records are needed for processing insurance claims. It is the process whereby one accurately and swiftly transcribes medical records dictated by doctors and others, including history and physical reports, clinic notes, office notes, operative reports, consultation notes, discharge summaries, letters, psychiatric evaluations, laboratory reports, x-ray reports and pathology reports. M.T. or Medical Transcriptionist is a person who assists physicians and specialty surgeons usually by transcribing, formatting, and proof reading their dictated medically oriented report of a patient's health history. Usually, the information dictated by doctors is recorded either into tape or onto digital voice processing systems. The process of medical transcription is transferring this information using word processing.
