About the Netaji Subhas National Institute of sports:

Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala India which is also Asia's largest Sports Institute is housed in the palatial monumental building and sprawling lawns built by the erstwhile Maharaja of Patiala whose descendants dedicated this complex for the promotion of sports to the people of India.

This Institute is popularly known as the "Mecca" of Indian Sports and has produced Coaches of high caliber and significantly contributed in rendering their expertise and assistance in the preparation of the national teams for various International competitions.

Courses Offered:

1. a) Diploma course in Sports Coaching at SAI, NSNIS, Patiala
Handball, Hockey,Judo, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Wushu

b)Diploma course in Sports Coaching at SAI, NSSC, Bangalore
(Athletics, Badminton, Hockey, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Softball, Swimming, Taekwondo, Lawn Tennis and Volleyball)

c)Diploma course in Sports Coaching at SAI, NSEC, Kolkata
(Archery, Athletics, Boxing and Football). Sports Coaching (Two Year Degree Course at Patiala)
(Athletics,Basketball,Football,Gymnastics,Hockey,Swimming,Volleyball,Weightlifting and Wrestling).

3. P.G.Diploma Course in Sports Medicine(Two Year) at SAI NS NIS, Patiala

Application Forms:

Application form can be down loaded from our website( if a candidate applies on down loaded application form, he/she must enclose a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- to the concerned center drawn in favour of Executive Director (Academics), SAI NS NIS Patiala, Director Incharge, SAI NS Eastern Centre, Salt Lake City, Sector-III, Kolkatta and Director Incharge, SAI NS Southern Centre, Near University Campus, Bangalore alongwith application form.

Important Dates:

The last date to receive applications at the center concerned is 15.5.2009.

Admission test for Diploma Course will be held at respective centers in the last week of June,2009.

Prospectus containing detailed information can be obtained by paying Rs.500/- at counter or through Regd. Post by sending Bank Draft of Rs.550/- drawn in favour of Executive Director, Sports Authority of India, NS NIS, Patiala-147001 or Director Incharge, Sports Authority of India NS South Centre, University Campus, Bangalore-560 056 or Director Incharge, Sports Authority of India, NS Eastern Centre, Salt Lake City, Sector-III, Kolkatta-700 091.

Eligibility for Diploma Courses:

Minimum bacherlor’s Degree (3 years) in Arts/Science/Commerce or
Any other faculty from any recognized Indian or foreign university.
10+2 level of education for candidates participated in(i) Asian Games/Championships/ (ii)Commonwealth Games/Championships/ (iii)World Champion ships(Senior Sections only) (iv) Olympic Games.
10+2 level of education for candidates from North east region and Andaman and NICO bar Island only.

Qualifications for M.Sc (Sports Coaching) (Two Years):

Graduate Degree from any recognized Indian/Foreign University
Diploma in Sports Coaching from SAI NS NIS, Patiala or from its other academic
Aptitude for research work
Sports Proficiency
Age not more than 45 years on the date of commencement of the course
