Hi friends I would like to share my TCS interview experience. My TCS interview consisted of technical(30min) + HR(30min). It was at TCS recruitment centre in Mumbai and I was quite nervous as this was the first time that I was visiting a corporate place. So here goes my experience.
Technical Interview: It was 9:30 in the morning that my name was announced. As I entered the desk (not a room), I was greeted with a good morning by a young man. I also replied back. Then he asked me if I was nervous to which I replied in the affirmative. I told him that this was my first ever interview, and I was sitting in India's no 1 IT recruiter company.
So he then asked me a few basic questions about me like my education, family background, and native place. Then he asked me about the meaning of my name. I told him it means "symbol". After this he saw he calming down and stated with the technical round.
He dint really ask me about my strong subjects but started with Web Technology (I had mentioned web browsing as my hobby in the resume). Some Questions where- -Tell me about HTTP, SMTP. -How are mails sent. -Give the rough architecture of web browser. (I wasn't able to answer this and told that I dont know the answer).
Tip: If you don't know any answer just tell that honesty the interviewer. Don't lie with interviewer.
Few other questions follwed:- (From other subjects) -What is cache memory. -Difference between segmentation and paging. -Write a program for factorial.
Although the 3rd question might seem simple he went in depth. He asked me will the program work for fact(0) and fact(-1). I told him fact(0) is 0 and my program supported it. For fact(-1) I dint know mathematical logic itself.
My last question was to write a program to implement a push / pop operations for stack. I was able to write it and told him working with a diagram also. After this he told he leave the room and wait outside for the results. I left thanking him with a smile.
After 10 minutes a TCS staff member came and informed me that I was selected for HR. I will give my HR experience in my next post.
One thing is clear from the questions I have posted that they aren't thought. Also if you cant answer don't get nervous. TCS only looks for co-operative people. TCS will train you, but you need to be able to be a quick learner. So try and be honest and be yourself.
