Pink are the young leaves
Bright and cool
As the quite waters
Of a jungle pool.
Loud calls the koel
from the tree
At the dawn and in the sunlight
And at the dusk calls he.
Peasants plough slowly
Eath's parched crust
Tilling the soil
Ere greenblades thrust.
Rain cascades earth wards
Wild wins sing.
Bold and fierce get love
Is the Indian spring.
