The Orissa Government on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the alleged altering of the mark sheet of the son of School and Mass Education Minister Bishnu Das and suspended eight officials of the Board of Secondary Education.
The suspended officials include the Board's Secretary Minaketan Pani and Controller of Examinations Manmohan Swain.
The government's action came a day after Chief Secretary Ajit Tripathy, who was initially asked by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to probe the matter, submitted his report.
Das resigned on moral grounds on August 17, a week after a controversy over allegations that the mark sheet of his son, who had appeared in the high school certificate examination, had been tampered.
He had alleged that the scandal was a "well-planned conspiracy" to defame the chief minister and his Biju Janata Dal party.
