Program Details
The Commercial Pilot and Aviation Management program will be covered in four Levels (Semesters) at HPAI and Algonquin College, Ottawa, Canada, as follows:-
Level I. The students shall complete part of the ground training courses that fall under Level I at HPAI. This will broadly cover the Private Pilots License (PPL) stage and a little bit more. The duration of this training will be 15 weeks. While at HPAI, the students will be given practical exposure to see live operations by arranging visits to all the faculties of an active flying station.
After successful completion of ground training courses at HPAI, the students shall proceed to Algonquin College, Canada to undertake flight training and remaining portion of ground training syllabus.
The duration of stay in Canada will be 30 weeks.
The students will fly 60 hours of flight training necessary for PPL. Upon completion of this training, the students will be eligible for the award of Private Pilots License (PPL) issued by Transport Canada.
Level II. The students will complete further 90 hours of training to obtain their Night Rating and to complete their CPL flight test and written examination conducted by Transport Canada.
Level III. The students will complete the balance 50 hours of flight time in order to meet the Transport Canada requirements to obtain their CPL. Twenty five hours of these will be multi engine instrument ration that will meet the requirement of multi engine and multi IFR flight test. On completion of the course the students will be eligible for the award of Commercial Pilots License issued by Transport Canada.
In response to the industry's desire to employ graduates with a strong background in business and management education our students having trained in courses like Fuel Handling Certification, Aircraft Handling, Winter Operations Handling, Underwater Rescue/Survival (Certification), Wilderness Survival Training, Cockpit Resource Management, Maintenance Skills and Dispatching, will be able to secure work in various facets of the aviation industry including entry-level management positions.
As part of their training in Canada during Level II and Level III, the students will attend programs in "Practical Skills" at Algonquin College. The college will cover programs in First Aid/CPR, Fuel Handling, Aircraft Handling, Winter Operations, Cockpit Resource Management, Maintenance Skills and Dispatching. Upon successful completion of these courses at Algonquin College, the students will be eligible for the Certificate awarded by Algonquin College.
Level IV. Upon completion of the CPAM training and award of CPL by Transport Canada, the students shall return to India. They will then take the examinations conducted by DGCA for the conversion of CPL awarded by Transport Canada. Eligibility Criteria
The following conditions must be fulfilled:-
Age 17½ completed years at the time of the program commencement at HPAI. Education Should be minimum 10+2 (HSC) with English, Mathematics and Physics. TOEFL Proof of English language skills in oral and written to the TOEFL standard - minimum 570 score on paper based testing or 230 on computer based. Despite this, if it is found during the course of the Entrance Examination and/or Interview, any student lacks skills in English; he should undergo a fresh examination. Medical Class 2 Medical Certificate issued by DGCA approved Medical Examiners. List of DGCA Approved Medical Examiners for issue of CPL available http://dgca.nic.in/medical/class2-ind.htm. Category I Medical Certificate from a Competent Authority of Transport Canada Civil Aviation Medical Examiner (CAME). List of CAME examiners registered in India is placed at '"Appendix "A". Note: The applicants are advised to undergo these medical examinations prior to joining the Institute. Should it not be possible due to the paucity of time, the applicants will have to complete these medical examinations successfully before leaving for Canada.
