Answer ALL Questions
PART – A (10 x 2 = 20 marks)

1. What do you mean by biodiversity?
2. Define IPR.
3. Differentiate between a patent and know-how.
4. What is risk assessment and risk management?
5. What is terminator Technology and T-Gurts? What are ELSI associated with it.
6. State the different forms of intellectual protection.
7. Define physical and biological containment.
8. Differentiate between genetic testing and genetic screening.
9. What is sustainable development?
10. State the three conditions for patentability.

PART – B (5 x 16 = 80 marks)

11. Outline the process in the filing of a patent. What is the post-acceptance process? Mention the salient features of the right of priority of the Parts convention. What is meant by opposition and infringement of a patent.

12. What are the ethical concerns associated with recombinant DNA technology and human cloning. Formulate ethical guidelines that should govern biotechnology research in these areas.
