It had been a very long time, since I had taken up any employment. For the past one year, I have been associated with IRC and ISC and have been really enjoying my role in both the websites and managing the house too.

Just about 3 weeks back, around 9.30 in the night, I got a call from one of my uncles, who is working with Scope International. I thought it to be a regular call, but to my surprise, he gave me details about a program that have been announced in their company last year and for which they are conducting interviews again.

I was reluctant, as I do not want to put pressure on my kids, by taking up employment. But as he started explaining me the details, I got quite impressed by it, and thought why not give it a try.

The program is named as She@Scope and it is especially for women, who are ready to take up part time opening and have the freedom to choose their own time slots. This program is mainly for those, who have basic typing skills, knowledge of MS Office and good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

The interview timing was scheduled between 9 am to 1 pm and when I reached the interview venue, was shocked to see almost about 200 to 250 women waiting to be interviewed and I was told that already about 250 people have finished their interviews. We were seated in a big conference room and were assigned to one different interviewer. Even though I am a HR person, I was not at ease, as it is very different to interview and be interviewed.

The moment came and I was called in and was briefed about the time schedules and was asked to choose any suitable timing. Keeping my kids in mind, I chose the day slot which was from 10 to 3. Yes, this is a part time job, offered for one year. One need to work for 5 hours. (All these days, I was putting off some offers, just because of the travelling factor. The Chennai traffic have become so bad and one cannot rely upon any kind of transport). But this is one particular time, that when the morning rush would have come to an end when I start from home and when I come back, it would not have started.

Taking a look at my qualification, I was asked to go to a test centre (about a km away) and take online aptitude testing. Oh My God was my reaction, as I was never able to pass out any bank exam. Was thinking, why my uncle have not mentioned about this!!!

Again there was a big queue. And I waited for almost an hour and a half for my turn to come. There were questions related to English (comprehension, synonyms, antonyms), reasoning (arithmetic and logical), general knowledge and typing. Again will be allowed to take a written test, only if I pass in the online test. Horray!!! I passed that test, and the computer screen directed me to take my next test (at first I did not know that it is a written test and was waiting near the system for some 15 mins, for the next test to load). The timing given to complete the aptitude test was 1 hour and I had finished it by 40 mins. (Each section had its own timings and I was unable to finish only the arithmetic reasoning on time, other sections, I finished off well ahead of the time).

Then came the written test, test that was mainly to test one's consistency in answering questions. Most of the questions were repeated but the same wordings were not used. For eg: There was a question: "Do you think that most of the corporate employees take office property home"; after a few questions there was another one "Are all the corporate employees dishonest?" It just needed lots of concentration.

I was then announced that I will get a call from the HR department if selected.
