Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a University established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The University focuses on higher education and research in the areas of Engineering, Medicine, Management, Education and Social Science. We are running these programmes in our five campuses at Amritapuri (Kollam), Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kochi and Mysore.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is conducting its own Engineering Entrance Examination this year also on an all India basis for admission to the 4 year B.Tech Degree programmes offered in three campuses at Amritapuri (Kollam), Bangalore and Ettimadai (Coimbatore). Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria will be given admission to the first year B.Tech programmes through counselling, based on their rank in the Entrance Examination.
The handbook contains general information and rules relating to the Amrita Entrance Examination – Engineering 2008 and other relevant details. Candidates are required to go through the handbook thoroughly and acquaint themselves with the details relating to the entrance examination and subsequent admission. The University reserves the right to modify the contents of the handbook as deemed necessary. The decision of the University on any issue related to the entrance examination and admission will be final and binding.
Eligibility
Age - The age of the candidate should not exceed 21 years as on 01 July, 2008.
Educational Qualification – A pass in 12th standard or second year Pre-University or equivalent examination from CBSE or any State Board or equivalent, with a minimum of 60% marks each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
OR
A Pass in Diploma examination (minimum 3 years duration after passing 10th standard), in Engineering, conducted by any State Board of Technical Education, scoring a minimum of 60% marks.
Note: Those who are appearing for the above examinations in April / May 2008 and expect to secure minimum marks as above, may also apply.
Application form will be in a format that can be processed by Optical Mark Reader.
Application fee is Rs. 850/-, which covers the cost of Application form, University Brochure, Information Handbook and Examination fee. Application fee once paid will not be refunded.
Application forms of Amrita Entrance Examination – Engineering 2008 can be obtained as below:-
By post, from the Admission Co-ordinators of Amrita Schools of Engineering at Amritapuri, Bangalore and Coimbatore (see Section 2), on a written request indicating their full communication address together with a Demand Draft for Rs 850/- (from any nationalised bank) drawn in favour of Amrita School of Engineering payable at Coimbatore.
(On the back side of the Demand Draft, candidate should write his / her “Name in full” and “For B.Tech Application”). Please keep a photocopy of the Demand Draft with you for future reference. OR From the University counter of Amrita Schools of Engineering at Amritapuri, Bangalore and Coimbatore on producing a demand draft for Rs 850/- (from any nationalised bank) as above.

From the designated branches of Dhanalakshmi Bank Ltd on payment of Rs 850/- (Refer to Annexure III ).
OR
From the designated Post offices on payment of Rs 850/- (Refer to Annexure III & website).

The application form will be processed by Computer based Optical Mark Reader. Hence use HB Pencil and Black Ball Point Pen wherever applicable as per the instructions for filling the application form. Otherwise the machine cannot read or scan the data.
Mark your response only within the space provided for the purpose. Response marked outside the space will not be read by the machine.
Application form should be filled in English only. First write in capital letters the required information in the boxes (wherever provided) above the bubbles (ovals) and then completely darken the bubbles under each letter / number.
Downloaded Format
Downloaded format of the Application can be used as below:-
Read the handbook carefully and follow the procedure given therein for using the downloaded application format.
» Get a Demand Draft for Rs 850/- in favour of “Amrita School of Engineering” payable at Coimbatore.
» Write your “name in full” and “B.Tech Application” on the back side of the Demand Draft.
» Download and take a print out of the application form in good quality A4 size copier paper / bond paper and fill up as per the instructions.
» Write the details of the Demand Draft in the relevant column of application form.
» Follow the instructions in the Handbook for filling up each item in the application form. Use only Black ball point pen for all writings.
Please note that the sections 6 & 7 of the Information Handbook contain instructions to darken the bubbles (ovals) with HB pencil. This is applicable only to applications in the OMR format and not for the downloaded application forms Put tick mark ( ) in the relevant columns. eg. , Nationality Indian Foreign
» Take xerox copy of DD and filled in application for future reference. Send the application to the Admission Co-ordinator as given in section 8 of the Information Handbook.
» The downloaded application form does not contain Application Number. On receiving the down loaded application and Demand Draft, the office will assign application number and also send the University Brochure to the applicant.
» Subsequently Hall Ticket will be despatched indicating the Registration number and venue of the examination. Note: A candidate shall submit only one application for the entrance examination
GENERAL GUIDELINES for filling the OMR (CODED) Application Form (Specimen of the coded Application Form is given in Annexure I)
Please read carefully the guidelines in sections 6 & 7 before filling the coded Application Form.

» Do not make any stray mark on the coded Application Form
» Do not enclose any certificate along with filled-in application.
» Candidates must use only the original coded form; photocopy of the coded form will not be accepted.
» Handle the coded sheet very carefully. Do not staple, pin, wrinkle, tear or wet the coded sheet. Tampered application is liable to be rejected.
» Coded Application form is to be folded in the same manner as it is supplied. No new fold should be made.
» Incomplete application forms will be summarily be rejected.
» Coded Application Form is enclosed in a pre-addressed special envelope. The applicants should despatch the filled-in form in the same pre-addressed envelope to the Admission Co-ordinator (see section 8.2).
Submission of Filled-In Application Form
» Please note down the Application number in your personal record and keep a photocopy of the filled-in application for future reference and correspondence.
» Duly filled-in application form shall be enclosed in the prescribed cover and sent to the following address only:

» Candidates are advised to send the filled-in applications by INDIA SPEED POST.
» Please send the filled-in application form at the earliest, so that the hall ticket will be reaching you sufficiently early, thus avoiding anxiety and confusion at the last moment.
Hall Ticket and Identification
» No candidate will be allowed to appear for the Entrance Examination without valid hall ticket. In the Examination hall, candidate should produce the hall ticket when demanded by the invigilator.
» The University will start issuing hall ticket 30 days before the examination, mentioning the candidate’s registration number and examination centre allotted and the details will be available at the University website. If you do not receive the hall ticket 10 days before the date of examination, please call 0422 – 2652424, on working days, between 9 AM and 5 PM.
» You will be required to produce Xerox copies of the demand draft and the filled-in application to establish your candidature, in case you require a duplicate hall ticket.
» In the examination hall candidate shall sign the attendance sheet. This signature shall be identical with the signatures on the Application form and the hall ticket.
