Two-Day Programme on “Statistical Methods in Medical Research” - NIMHANS
Two-Day Programme on “Statistical Methods in Medical Research” is going to be held on 11th and 12th July 2009, in NIMHANS.
About the NIMHANS:
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences is a multidisciplinary Institute for patient care and academic pursuit in the frontier area of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. The Lunatic Asylum which came into being in the latter part of the 19th Century was renamed as Mental Hospital in 1925 by the erstwhile Government of Mysore. This hospital and All India Institute of Mental Health established in 1954 by Government of India were amalgamated on 27th December 1974, and thus was formed the autonomous National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS).
About the Two Day Programme;
It is proposed to conduct a two-day Intensive Workshop in Statistical Methodology useful to medical researchers and postgraduates and an introduction to a statistical package, on 11th & 12th of July 2009.
The number of participants for the programme will be restricted to
about 40 and will be on a first come first serve basis. A course fee of
Rs.2000/- will be charged (Rs.1000 for NIMHANS students).
The Programme will consist of didactic lectures followed by hands-on-
Experience of a statistical software. It is proposed to give the participants hand-outs on the topics being covered.
The topics being covered are –
Scientific Method and Research,
Basic Statistical Methodology,
Statistical Principles in Research Designs,
Introduction to Multivariate procedures and
exposure to a Statistical Package.
Programme Timings:
The programme will start at 9.00 a.m. on both days and will go on till 5.30 p.m.
