XIII Annual Conference of the Society of Operations Management

The Society of Operations Management announces its 13th Annual Conference – ACSOM2009 during 20-22 December 2009 at IIT Madras.

The theme of the conference is “Sustaining Operations Excellence”. The Indian Manufacturing Sector and service sector have been recognized as important engines of India’s economic growth and is high on the national agenda. Principles and practices of Operations Management are likely to play a major role in the journey towards building and sustaining competitive edge in the current global economic environment. This conference aims to address the research and practical issues in OM and contribute to sustaining operations excellence in India.

A Doctoral Consortium will be held on the first day (20 December) where doctoral students present their research. This year we strongly encourage presentation of the work by scholars pursuing PhD and MS (by research). Papers based on work by Doctoral students will be preferred to papers based on M Tech or ME thesis. There will be a tutorial session on the first day.

The main conference will be held on 21 and 22 December. There will be parallel sessions depending on the number of accepted papers. There will be key note addresses by eminent researchers in the field.

Paper Submission
Authors should submit a 6 page write up of their full paper (including results and references) in the prescribed format(attached) by 15th October 2009. This will be reviewed and acceptance/modifications will be communicated by 10th November 2009.

We will have the selected papers available electronically. A book of abstracts (additional 10 lines to be provided by the authors) will also be available. A CD containing all the abstracts and papers will be given to the participants.

Registration
The conference registration fee is Rs 3000/- (for OM society members) and Rs 3500/- (for non members). The fee in US$ is 75$ for O.M society members and 100$ for non members.

Doctoral students whose are presenting papers in the Doctoral consortium do not have to pay any registration fee. Only one author gets the fee waiver for every paper presented in the consortium. The registration fee for other Students who wish to attend the conference is Rs 1000/-.
