My Aricent Interview Experience

Hi I actually had shared my interview experience of Wipro with you. Since we had dual campus selection in my seventh semester (i.e 2007) I got a chance to attend the interview of Aricent in August 2007.
This is a big communications software company formerly called as Future soft and formerly as Hughes. This company came to my college for the first time that year since the H.R of the company was our Mechanical department alumni. So our training and placement cell and officers had contacted him and the company Aricent came for campus recruitment in our college.
Since this company gave dual choice many were not interested in being placed there and I too was in the same group with null preparation before attending the interview.
As usual it consisted of three rounds
1)Aptitude test
2)Technical round
3)H R round
Aptitude was conducted by Merittrak, a famous recruiting group and it consisted of 7 sections.
The results were announced by afternoon and they had selected most of Electronics and Communication (ECE) and MCA students. I too had been selected since I did the test to my level best and also an ECE student. With me some of my friends were also selected.
The next round was a pure technical round. It consisted of 4 panels. I went in panel number:2
Technical round:

Interviewer: Come in
Me: Good Afternoon Sir
Interviewer: Good Afternoon..Take your seat..
(I thanked him and then I sat and gave my resume to him)
Interviewer: What type of microprocessors do you know?
Me: 8085 and 8086
Interviewer: Ok, then draw me the architecture of 8085
Me: I drew roughly and explained him upon his some questions
Interviewer: Do you know data structures?
Me: Sir, since i am from ECE we had this subject in our curriculum in 3rd semester. So I know only the concepts and not the codes now
Interviewer: Ok but for Aricent it is very important to learn DS..When you come there you should have known it..
Me: Ok sir
Interviewer: Explain me the concept of OOPs?
Me: I told the seven concepts name and explained him
Interviewer: Ok what are the different types of counter?
Me: I just explained among what I know
(That panel interviewer was a bit easy moving and was satisfied with what I said and i was promoted to the HR round. Really I felt happy about it)
H R interview:

(I wished him and got inside and gave my resume to him)
Interviewer: Do you know I am an alumni of your college?
Me: Yes Sir I heard about you
Interviewer:As per your resume you have done a paper presentation..Where did you do it and can you explain me?
Me: I narrated it in a very lucid form.
Interviewer:Have you been placed in any other company?
Me: Yes sir, Wipro
Interviewer:Ok what is your annual pay there?
Me: I answered.
Interviewer:In Wipro a communications domain is there..It is located where?
Me: After thinking too long it wildly guessed as Bangalore.
Interviewer:He just smiled that it is your guess
Me:Yes Sir
Interviewer:Ok can you tell me about our company?
Me: I told whatever i heard in presentation round and what else i had prepared as a summary for that communications software company
Interviewer:Ok Can you name some servive providers?
Me:Airtel, aircel etc..
Interviewer:Can you name some communication software company other than ours?
Me:Sascens
Interviewer:Then..
Me: I know only this
Interviewer:Do you know which is the biggest communications company?
Me: Sorry sir I have no idea
Interviewer:ESSAR is its name
Me: I nodded my head
Interviewer:Ok how our college has improved in the four years?
Me: I told a tremendous improvement sir..Our Indoor stadium and campus recruitments being held etc
Interviewer:Before 4 years I used to come in bike to the college. When I wear white shirt the whole shirt when I reach here will be brown in colour because of the red soil roads. Now it is great and I missed it.
Me:(I wondered that he frankly spoke about it and I was listening curiously to him that I came to know that I was being tested for listening and attention skills)
Interviewer:Ok in Aricent if you have any doubts you could mail all time at campusnode
Me:Query will be resolved in what time sir?
Interviewer:Maximum within a day
Me:Ok Sir
Interviewer:Consider a transmitting and receiving antenna. If the distance between them is x what will be the symbol rate?
Me: I don't know exactly sir
Interviewer:Ok if the distance is increased the receiving power will increase or decrease?
Me: Will definitely decrease sir
Interviewer:Ok. Symbol rate=Symbols transmitted/transmission distance
Me: Ok Sir
Interviewer:Tell me about any person you admire?
Me: I spoke about Tamil Nadu's former Chief Minister Selvi J.Jeyalalitha. Being a girl she has acheived a lot ispite of many oppositions etc..
Interviewer:He heard and said ..ok anything you want to ask to me?
Me: What will be my result sir?
Interviewer:We too are working on it. Lets wait and see
So I was pretty much confident that I could do this interview so well and waited eagerly for the results. The results were out at night 11.
And my name was in the list they read out.. HURRAY...
