IIM Shillong to be operational by 2008

Here's some good news for all those anxious MBA aspirants who're applying to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). The HRD ministry has notified the IIMs that the brand new IIM campus in Shillong will be operational by 2008.
IIM-Shillong can admit students for the 2008-09 batch. This means that, in addition to the existing six IIMs, students appearing for the Common Admission Test (CAT) this year will also be short-listed for the IIM in Shillong.
IIM-aspirants, however, are unaware of the new campus as the CAT form, released on July 15, only mentions the existing
six IIMS, for which students need to tick their preferences.
"It's come as a pleasant surprise to know that there is one more IIM, but I don't know why the CAT bulletin had no mention of it. The form asks us to apply to all the six IIMs. I have already submitted my form and selected all six IIMs as my preference. I hope I am eligible for the seventh IIM too," says an IIM aspirant from Mumbai who doesn't wish to be named.
