First "Five Years Plan":

1* Important objective is increase Agricultural production.

2* The first plan proposed a total outlay of Rs.2069 crores during the plan period by the central and state Govts, Finally, the amount was increased to Rs.2356 crores. But actual expenditure is only 1960 crores.

3* The first plan can well be termed as the best plan from the point of view of its success achieved in many field.

4* Although the target was only an increase of 11%, the actual increase in the national income was 18%.The national income increased from Rs.8650 crores to Rs.12730 crores at the constant price. The Per capital income went up by 11%.

5*Food production rose from 52.2 millions tones in 1951-52 to 65.8 millions tones in 1955-56.Whereas the plan target was only 61.6 million tones.
