Applied Electronics and Instrumentation or simply AEI might not be the most sought for branch in minds of engineering aspirants. But this branch is really a jack of all trades. AEI often comes under comparison with Electronics and Communication . Some people say that it rather difficult to compare these two branches because both of them are equally important and communication and instrumentation are two different technologies altoghter. But one thing is for sure that if control application comes into picture then AEI is definately better. AEI is ACTUALLY the most upcoming branch these days. An instrumentation engineer finds jobs in very good companies like L&T, GE, ESSAR, Texas Instruments, Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited etc... In some of the premier institutes in India like BITS Pilani etc Electronics and Instrumentation branch is a very popular branch and gets first preference by a great number of students.
