1. Calculate the number of different arrangement of 6 Bosons among 4 cells of equal a priori probability.

2. Calculate the most probable speed of nitrogen at 270 C. Given N = 6 x 1023 molecules/mole, k = 1.38 x 10-16 ergK-1.

3. Calculate the root mean square speed of a molecule of hydrogen at NTP. given N = 6 x 1023 molecules/mole, k = 1.38 x 10-16 ergK-1.

4. The first excited state of hydrogen atom is 10.2 eV above its ground state. What temperature is needed to excite the hydrogen atoms to the first excited level?

5. At what temperature will the average speed of molecule of hydrogen gas be double the average speed of oxygen at 300K?

6. The average K.E. of a gas molecule at a certain temperature is 6.5 x 10-21J. find the temperature. Given k = 1.38 x 10-23 JK-1.

7. At what temperature will the average speed of molecule of hydrogen gas be same as that of the average speed of nitrogen at 300K. mol.wt. of N2 = 28 and H2 =2.

8. Three particles are to be distributed in four energy levels a, b,c,d. Calculate all possible ways of this distribution when particles are (i) Fermions (ii) Bosons (iii) Classical particles.

9. Fermi energy of electrons in silver is 5.48 eV. Calculate the number of such electrons per cm3 given h = 6.6 x 10-27 erg s, 1 ev = 1.62 x 10-12 erg.

10. A system consists of 5 particles arranged in two compartments. The first compartment is divided into 6 cells and second into 8 cells. The cells are equal in size. Calculate the number of microstates in the microstate (2,3), if particles obey F-D statistics.
