APOGEE 2008 (A Professions Oriented Gathering over Educational Experience) is the XXVI All-India Technical Festival of the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani. A conglomeration of minds that ponder. Why are things as they are and not otherwise?? Chemische Konkurrenz The preliminary selection round consists of basic problems on industrial equipment design. These shall be posted online and the solutions have to be submitted before the deadline. In the final round, a real life industrial problem will be mailed to the selected participants with the required data who will have to present their solution in front of a Panel of Judges at BITS-Pilani during APOGEE-2K8. The Presentation would be followed by a round of questioning by the Panel of Judges. Questions may also be posed by any member of the audience
Rules:
1 A team may consist of a maximum of 4 members. It is allowed to form teams comprising of students from different educational Institutions. 2 Online registration is compulsory for every participant of a team 3 Teams would be informed about their selection for the final round through personalized emails. 4 In case of any discrepancy, the verdict of the Event Coordinator will be considered final and binding

Fastest Fingers First This is an event organized by to check the concentration, patience, control and presence of mind of the participants. For those who believe they have stable hands under pressure and nerves of steel even at times of crisis, this is the event that will reveal their true mettle. Rules: 1 The first round will be elimination round based on an objective quiz. The questions would be related to basic concepts involved in a lab. This round tests whether a participant has in-depth knowledge about the basic ideas behind working in a lab. Most of these concepts would be indirectly related to MT 1 concepts 2 Final round: Each participant will be given around 5 tasks to complete. The tasks would be to formulate five different formulations in the lab Marks would be awarded based on the time taken by him/her to complete each task (different weightage for different tasks) and the quality of the formulation

Gamophilic This one is for all the gaming freaks. It gives the participant (Teams of 4) an opportunity to prove their gaming skills in popular games like Counter Strike and DoTA! The winners will be selected after several rounds of tough multiplayer competitions.
ELIMS: 1 Teams of four. 2 Two teams shall be playing for 5 rounds and the first team to win 3 rounds shall proceed further. 3 Maps for the game shall be randomly selected. 4 Totally 8 teams will be selected for the finals.
FINALS: 1 Teams of four. 2 The final day will have 4 quarterfinals, 2 semifinals and 1 grand final. 3 The duration of each game will be 20 minutes.

Math Count It is a battle field in which logic is a weapon and spontaneity is armour. The participants’ knowledge of mathematics facts, concepts, logical skills and application are tested in this online event. The emphasis is on learning, interaction and having fun.
No prerequisites, no need of high mathematical fundas
Rules:
1 The participants have to register with the Maths Association atleast 2 hours before the commencement of the event. 2 Duration of test will be 60 minutes. 3 All questions are objective of type. 4 The participants should be present at the examination hall 10 minutes before the commencement of the test. 5 Your marks will be displayed on your computer as soon as you finish your test. 6 The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Sudoku The name says it all. Doesn’t it?
Rules:
1 Atmost 2 people can participate as a group. 2 The event consists of 2 rounds- elims and final round. 3 The duration for elims is 30mins and for the final round it is 45mins. 4 It is the same SUDOKU that appear in newspapers everyday. 5 In elims 4 puzzles will be given and in the final round 4 puzzles of different levels will be given. 6 Fully completed puzzles shall attract bonus points

LABRYNTH
This is an event where participants have to solve the given problem using various equipments in the laboratory. Ingenuity and appropriateness of the method is what counts. Rules: 1. First round will be a written round where participation is on an individual basis. 2. Participants selected in the first round will have to form groups of two for the final lab round.
