With an increase in the number of students with work experience , the profile of job offers is expected to get bigger and better at IIM Ahmedabad. Almost 45% of the post graduate programme (PGP) batch at IIM-A boasts of work experience of at least 18 months in diverse sectors.
The laterals are already seeing an influx of diverse offers at all IIMs. At IIM-A , the Hinduja Group has offered general management profile to students with work experience . RPG group and Kuwait-based Alghanim too have made similar offers.
Typically, PGP students are offered the position of associates or senior analysts in investment banks and consultancies. With more work experience, students are hoping to see a change in designations offered. According to placement coordinator Piyush Sinha, “the trend of students being offered higher designations is bound to pick up considering the number of experienced students. The change in roles is taking place, however, at a gradual pace.”
Out of the total batch of 245, 112 are eligible for laterals this year. The number has gone up from 90 students last year. About 20 students have received offers from the likes of Kuwait-based Alghanim Industries , Microsoft, Hinduja Group so far. IT major HCL and venture capital firm Triology and PwC have managed to draw the interest of around 80 students.
