Importance of land reforms

This article describes about the importance the reforms in land and its formation and distributions. This article also discusses in brief about the land reforms in other countries and compares them to that of India.

Of all the properties of nature like fire, water, air and the sky, land has a special place. It is the most superior of all the five elements. The benefits we get out of land are in such a number that this article is not enough to enumerate them. All that has been given by nature can be enjoyed by everybody.People thus consider land as one of the most precious property. This has become the point of conflict between not only individuals but also between nations.

The Land problem
The farmer cultivates the land and produces crops three times a year. The merchant buys the crop and makes a lot of profit. The government collects the cess and dictates the terms on them. While the middle persons are able to get a lot of profits easily, the farmer who struggles hard from dawn to dusk in sweat finds hardly any profit. He who is the source of food to all of us has no other go except to depend on the mercy of god for rain and mercy of the land lord for his livelihood.what a pity!

The land problem has become the centre for every cruel acts and encounters.People do not even hesitate to grab the land through irregular ways.If you see, crime rate is very high in real estate sector. This sector is highly effected by Mafia and underworld.

Land reforms in other countries
In European continent, the Karl marx theory was propagated and the farmers induced the laborers to turn against the land lords and the organizers.French revolution and Bolshevik revolution in Russia became a splendid success. In other countries also politicians who were interested in bringing about social reforms started various movements.

Land reforms in India
In India Acharya Vinobha Bhave launched the "Land donation moment" which bought revolution in land reforms. He toured in and around the entire India touching every village. He collected lands from the rich land lords and distributed them to the poor people in these villages. It is estimated that vinobhaji collected nearly twenty lakh acres of land and distributed the same to the poor and deserving. This became a historical land mark of our country.

The government is also taking interest and has passed the Land ceiling Act.But because of our judicial system, reforms are not catching up the required pace.

In my opinion, the government should implement the same policies meant to prevent black money to land reforms.Restrictions should be laid on the amount of land a person can hold.Atleast heavy taxation should be laid to prevent people from possessing extra land.

A very informative topic on land Reforms. We also had the land reform problem by the Britishers on our Indian farmer before independence. It is only after independence that we could overcome this.

It gives us knowledge that the land reforms were in European countries too.

Thanks for this information.

Best regards,
