Department of Mining Engineering of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is committed to impart necessary training and is always ready for pioneering initiatives for the diversified needs of the mining industry. As a part of this Prof. Khanindra Pathak has been regularly offering popular modular courses at the Department of Mining Engineering, IIT Kharagpur.
Objectives of the course:
To introduce the latest development of maintenance engineering principles and practices in Machinery management Maintenance tools and technique Information Handling for improved maintenance and capacity utilisation
COURSE CONTENT:
Management of Mining machinery: Selecting right machine for the right job, capacity planning and capacity utilization.
Maintenance Information System: Introduction to information based maintenance system, use of maintenance software.
Maintenance management for mining machinery: maintenance planning, execution, evaluation and record keeping, assessment of capacity utilization, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Quality Control in Maintenance, Reliability centered maintenance & life cycle assessment
Applied Tribology and Condition monitoring: Principles of machine failures, Condition Based Maintenance for Mining Machinery, NDT for mining Machinery
COURSE FEE
A course fee of Rs. 10000.00 per participant for the course inclusive of course material is payable by demand draft in favour of "CEP-STC, IIT, Kharagpur" payable at Kharagpur. The course fee will not be refunded unless the nomination is withdrawn 3 weeks before the commencement of the course. The course fee does not include boarding and lodging charges

Eligibility: Practicing Engineers engaged in operations and maintenance of mining and mineral processing or transport machinery
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation for the participants can be arranged on request in the CEC Guest House, IIT Kharagpur, which has dining hall facilities.
PARTICIPATION
The courses will be useful for the executives and supervisory staff engaged in various unit operations of Surface Mining and in maintenance and operation of mining machinery as well as those who are engaged in planning and information processing. The higher and middle level management involved in decision-making regarding replacement, overhauling and procurement of equipment would also be benefited.
