Natural resources can be broadly grouped into two categories - (1) Non-renewable resources such as coal and petrolium.There is only a finiate quantity of these resourrces and once their stock is completly exhausted through wastful consumption,they cannot be regenerated.
(2) Renewable resources such as forests, animals water, etc. If these resources are used carefully and optimally, they can be regenerated and renewed. Some economists argue that the present pattern of development is unsustainable because it is heavely dependent on non-renewable resources. It would be difficult to sustain development if the non renewable resources are exhausted.
