Illiteracy - A curse on mankind

An illiterate person is one who does not read or write. Illiteracy is really a curse to mankind. It is one of those major problems that are obstacles in the way of the progress of any nation. the reson behind the development of all developed countries like Japan, England etc. is that the major part of the population of those countries is literate. A literate person can solve his or her problems in a better way as compared to an illiterate person. Illiteracy is also the symbol of backwardness. At present time many inventions and discoveries are being made by the scientists in the field of science & technology. Only a literate person can be aware of those inventions and discoveries and use them in a proper way.

Illiteracy gives birth to narrow mindedness. Most of the illiterate person adopt negative approach towards life and do not handle the situations of their life in a better way. They are mostly pessimists who see only the dark side of the things instead of the bright side. An illiterate citizen is also incapable of fulfilling all those responsibilities towards his family, society and country which are expected of him.

Because without the life of education one is incomplete. In this competetive world where all the literate persins are trying their best and struggling hard to get more and more knowledge, wecannot hope better and secure future for the illierates. So I would just conclude that though governments of all the nations are trying their best and taking immediate steps to make people literate, but all these plans are useless unless the people themselves relize the need to be literate.

Education is necessary for society building. People are the backbone of society. In a society, the welfare of the people depends on the social behaviour of mankind, which can only be improved by awareness among people . Nations would be strong if the education is made compulsory.
