Kakinada is a city in Andhra Pradesh which is having rapid growth. This is the district head Quarters for east Godavari district. It is also called as Co Canada and people will say that it’s a Second Madras. Is a well planed city and has connectivity through Road, Rail and siege. The town's has two railway stations called Kakinada Town and Kakinada Port. A domestic air port can also come to Kakinada in the near by future But for the time Being nearest airport is located at Rajahmundry which is located around 65 km from Kakinada and nearest international airport is located at Visakhapatnam.
There are several interesting and famous places to visit in and around Kakinada
Matlapalem Mahalakshmi Temple:
It’s Very famous Temple of goddess Mahalakshmi. Which were constructed on Kakinada-Yanam road NH 214.It will take around One hour to reach this Temple from Kakinada Bus stand. People will generally go by Buses (every Bus which will go towards Yanam will stop at this Temple except Non-stop Buses) or can go by Auto (Both Sharing and Non Sharing will be available).
The ashram was found and constructed by Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Sreeranga Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji (Popularly known as Kakinada Jeeyar).its a piceful place .the ashram also consist Sri venkateswara temple,Veda pathasala, The nearest land mark is jamakayala toomu. Toorangeswara Swami Temple:
This is a famous historic temple of lord Shiva this is located in -Yanam road NH 214. Near msn degree college.The shiva linga was created and worshipped by lord sri rama after killing Rakshasa called ‘Maricha’ to come out of his sin or to avoid ‘Brahma hatya pataka’.
There were 4 churches constructed long back, the churches were well constructed and they are categorizes as roman church, catholic church etc.
Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple:
This temple was built in the bank of jagannathapuram canal and very much near to jagannatha puram bridze.This temple was constructed and organized by tirumala tirupathi devastanam.
Bhavannarayana swami temple :
The temple is located at Sarpavaram which is at a distance of 5 Km from Kakinada. This is a historic temple. And people believe that the Saint ‘Narada’ Built this Temple.You can also visit a pond called Narada Gundam which is located near by temple.Vaikunta Ekadasi, Magha Masam Sundays, Radha Sapthami are important festivals and will be celebrated beautifully here.
Ravana’s Statue :
This statue was placed at Kakinada Beach Road .This statue height is around 30 ft. There is a huge Shivalinga which is placed near by this statue which is supposedly installed by Ravana. Both Shivalinga and Ravana are worshiped here. This is the only place in the Andhra Pradesh where Ravana was worshipped. At regular intervals of time Mahakumbha mela will be organized here. ‘Abhisheka’ will be organized to The sautés of ravana and Sivalinga with sea water and Different kinds of fruit juice, milk etc.
Uppada Beach :
This is placed about 5 km from Kakinada, The specialty here is it has a combination of gradual slope with clean waters. As you move towards Uppada the tide size will increase gradually. There were lots many survey trees. It’s a very good picnic spot.
It’s located in Uppada beach road near 'Vakalapudi' village. During the night time while the lights are rotating one can observe that three lights will on one light off again one light on and one light off. This signal describes the sailors and fishermen to identify that they are near Kakinada.
It’s a small island which is located very near to Kakinada beach.
To reach the island one has to travel around 10km into the water. But very few boats will be available to reach the island. The formation of this island is due to sand drifting from the river Godavari. The northern part of this island is called the "Godavari point" Due to the existence of Hope Island Kakinada beach formed without tides. The island looks beautiful with coconut trees and small huts. This island protects Kakinada from the strong tidal waves and storms of the Bay of Bengal.
Fishing Harbor & Deep Water Port :
Kakinada Port is a combination of Kakinada Anchorage Port, Kakinada Deep Water Port, and Kakinada Fishing Harbor.
Kakinada Port is located on the East Coast of India at a Latitude- 16º 56’ North and Longitude - 82º 15’ on East. It’s a main Port which is located in Godavari and Krishna basin. It’s the safest natural harbors on the east coast of India. A Deep Water Port was developed by Government of Andhra Pradesh with the cost of 300 Chores.
One should spend at least two days to visit and enjoy the all the locations
