Here i am going to list some of the best movies ever made according to me. These are just my personal favorites...so if you don't find one of your favorites over here please don't hang me...

* Schindlers list
Just how bad was WW2? Sitting in your classroom hearing the teachers talk about facts tells us nothing about the atrocities the people suffered during that time. A life during that time had the value of a grain of salt...and no movie tells this in a better way than Schindlers list. Nobody suffered as much as the jews in my opinion. What they had to go through only they know. This movie tells us about the worst facets of human nature and how it changed the world. But the beauty of the movie is that underneath all the hate and suffering lies hope. When a single man who was german saved more than 600 jew lives without caring for his own life; that instilled hope in them....and this movie portrays it beautifully....a masterpiece!

* Shawshank Redemption
1994 was arguably one of the best year for movies ever. Exceptional masterpieces like pulp fiction and Forest Gump changed the face of movies forever. But one movie still edged out the other to achieve legendary status. That was Frank Darabonts Shawshank Redemption. It tells the story about a man named Andy(Tim Robbins) who was falsely convicted for his wifes murder and was sent to prison on a life imprisonment term. There he made friends with a guy named Red Redding(Morgon Freeman). Red had lost all hope in life. He even hated the term. But Andy instilled it back in him. He showed that if u keep hoping eventually things will go your way. It is generally considered as probably the best movie ever made....and for good reason. A must watch.

* Monoke Hime
Animation movies generally aren't that highly regarded. They tend more towards the kids and don't really have that story element infused among them. But one director begs to differ with this opinion. His name is hayao miyazaki. Generally considered the best animated movie director in the world, this movie is his baby. Don't watch this movie if your expecting cute characters with animations and a story that will bring a smile to your face. The story is more complex then most A rated dramas on Star world. It tells about conflict and war between two civilizations and how the biggest loser in their war is mother nature. If this movie doesn't bring a tear to your eye...then you have no heart!!

* The Dark Knight
Yes. This movie has to be there on every greatest movies list. A mixture of action and storytelling never seen before in movies. Plus add to that the comics background and characters and we have an epic win. I wont say much about this movie...you just have to see it, whether you like batman or not. Believe me this is more than just batman. This is one of the best crime dramas ever made. Just watch it. And not for batman.....but for the joker. Rest in peace Heath Ledger.

* American Beauty
The last movie on this list is also probably the best of the lot. This is not a movie which everyone would understand. It has a very deep message...one which is absolutely beautiful. It tells the story of a man who had hit rock bottom in his life. He had nothing going for him and wasn't getting any support from his family. But one incident changed his life. He started to see things differently and tried to change his family too. But sometimes people are too blind to understand!! This movie tries to tell us to see beauty in everything, good or bad cause only then the canvas of life is complete. Just beautiful!!

There are probably a gazillion other amazing movies. I've just named a few of my personal favorites. Feel free to list all of your favorites too
