I studied in St. Paul's Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Neyveli, when my father was staying in Neyveli due to Government duties. It was such a wonderful experience studying in St. Paul's and I enjoyed every single day I attended the school.

The Neem trees that surround the school campus gave a good shady experience. I loved running around the huge neem trees with my friends Sadagopan and Suresh. They were my friends from my 1st standard to third standard. Sometimes we used to quarel with the students of the other classes and everything was done with a lot of joy and fun. My class teacher Ms. Sasikala was very good to me and my friends.

We used to play cricket and football in the large ground behing the school campus. When not in the team we used to collect butterflies from the garden. Everything was done with lot of fun and joy. I remember that one day I went to my classmate Velliangiri's house without permission and got scalled for the offence.

The school day program, picnic to Neyveli Lignite corporation; Games and sports day functions all were opportunities to have more fun. I was the assistant class leader for quite some time and remember how tough it was to keep the class in silence in the absence of the teacher.

I still remember the song we sang at the general assembly, "Bind us together Lord..." It was nice singing at the general assembly.

One day I had to come a little late to school and I was fined Rs. 2 for late coming. I failed to pay the fine in time and got a couple of beatings from the Physical Training Teacher. I enjoyed walking and bicycling from school in the busy road leading to Main Bazar. I wish I had another opportunity to visit the school and probably know what my friends Sadagopan and Suresh are doing at present. It will be nice to know about them.
